That's crazy. How obvious can a foul get? I guess the refs wanted to go home.

If Love won't get the call then there's no way Austin would.

And here comes another NBA apology.

Illuminati
01-12-2014, 02:01 AM
Austin Rivers would've choked at least one freethrow, but that's not the point. NBA will release the official statement tomorrow saying they missed this call, acting like it's going to matter tomorrow.:facepalm

no pun intended

the love one was much harder to call, this was an easy call and they still didn't get it.

Refs don't like to call fouls late in the game but that was ridiculous, that's worse than Love's

SHAQisGOAT
01-12-2014, 02:15 AM
Just ridiculous.

Apparently there's a new rule which states that no foul shall be called at the end of games if the player is on a "small" team. :confusedshrug:

Clear as day, even worse than Love's, that shit has to be called.
Lots of games calling bs ticky-tack fouls then ones like these not even a reaction. :facepalm

Expect an official apology.. Like that changes anythings :lol

it was a foul, but it looked like he even fouled him before he shot.. so he woulda got 2? either way NBA will apologize tomorrow.. same old bs

edit: doesnt it look like he tried the rip through move? Would have been 2 if they called it then

Im so nba'd out

Bet nba doesn't make a statement apology about this one rivers isn't a star, people always say refs don't call last second fouls but I remember last season Blake Griffin hitting the game winner and gets called for the offensive didn't see the game but most were calling b.s call

What was the point spread for the game?

Austin Rivers secretly relieved... he would have clanked at least 1 and game over. Why is Rivers even in the game anyway?

What was the point spread for the game?

Mavs were -8 or something like that. No impact on spread...Pels covered.

Clear foul, but should have only gotten 2 free throws anyway, but still a blown call.

01-12-2014, 05:06 AM
Lol these refs are terrible. I understand the basketball is a very tough sport to officiate but come on. I know the refs try to let the teams play it out in the final seconds but by this logic, the opposing team is aloud to hack the player with possession and no foul will be called?? :confusedshrug:

Refs just need to let the players play ball for 48 minutes. No ticky tack fouls for a touch on the wrist and we won't see so many players feel so entitled to fouls

senelcoolidge
01-12-2014, 05:08 AM
I don't care who you are but fouls should be called..NBA officiating is just horrendous. It's just embarrassing.

who cares if lebron got rings the last couple seasons, what does it actually mean given the fact refs highly influence games?

It means jack shit, and i havn't been following nba long enough to know if its always been like this but we have to stop kidding ourselves, the nba is not a fair competition.

The real question is why was Austin Rivers playing at a crucial time in the game?

oarabbus

Monta straight up reached all the way across Rivers' body and grabbed his arms, wtf

raiderfan19
01-12-2014, 06:42 AM
Yes it was a foul, but it was on the floor. Monta was intentionally fouling him so he couldn't get off a 3. Rivers also traveled before any contact whatsoever was made.

With the amount of injuries, teams tanking and just garbage level games being played I wonder what the viewing numbers for the league is looking like.

It's the call that Kevin Durant gets all the time, where he swings his arms into the defenders arm.

That's not a foul to me. If the defender puts his arm somewhere in time and doesn't swing down or up at the other player, which Monta Ellis did not in this play, then it's not a foul.

It used to be a no-call in the NBA too. Check out this play involving Shaq and Greg Ostertag: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NHx0Pkle5_0

They should go back to calling it this way, so I don't have to watch all these new age free throw queens.

The NHL is overtaking the NBA. They seriously need to fix the officiating and some other things in the league. The league looks B class.

A blatant no-call and a shame for the whole organization. Refereeing has been bad lately (and I mean a several years span). It really does hurt the image of legitimacy in the NBA... Superstar calls, no-calls, travelling... You'd say it's not as influential as to decide the championships... But maybe it does. It definitely leaves an unconscious mark. Why care.

it is sad that if any of the best players get fouled like that...it's 100% going to be called there.

because austin rivers sucks...he doesn't get that call.

still think it should have only been 2 ft's, but it was a clear foul and I don't know how you fail to call that...

ballup
01-12-2014, 03:58 PM
I can see why it's a no call. It does looks like the rip through move, but I sometimes still see it called this season.

I think refs should be given more leeway for reversing calls. Not sure if it is true, but once they blow the whistle, a call has to be made.

I can't see if Monta is actually grasping Rivers arms. Monta may be trying to intetnionally foul to bring Rivers to the line for 2. Doc Rivers implemented a strategy like that before.

That was atrocious. I hope those refs suffer from a bout of irritable bowel syndrome over the next 24-36 hours.

He was out of control, had no chance of making the shot, well defended, and he's Austin Rivers. Austin has a very soft NBA game, I'm glad no call in Ellis, a solid NBA vet playing good D don't reward the scrub. There was obviously something behind this no call. Nobody knows what they go off of but something held the whistle.
