I was instantly hooked. An amazing Pilot. But what can you expect from an HBO show with McConaughey and Woody Harrelsons in the lead roles.

I loved it too. I thought it had a great ending. A really nice introduction to a show.

And I really like the concurrent story telling gimmick they're using, both in 2002 and present day. Although I do think it's possible they paint themselves into a corner with it.

Although reading about it, the entire season is written by the same guy, and directed by a single guy, so I feel like you're getting a single auteur vision. Meaning getting painted into a corner is less likely.

It had it's slow moments in the beginning, but that's to be expected. They obviously needed to set the groundwork for the story, and that's usually not fun to sit through and watch.

However, as the hour went on it started to pick up and I'm very excited to see next weeks episode. The show has a weird dynamic where you think you can see where it's going, but it's still too early to make any real predictions.

Only thing that sucks is its only an 8 part series

I heard that they may do multiple seasons, but with a different cast and case. If this remains a success, I can see other big name actors wanting to step in.

......shrug.......let's hope that first episode is leading to something better......

You're basically the only person I know of that didn't like the pilot.

you can tell Woody and Mathew really busted out their acting chops for this shit...they brought their A game and just from this first episode I can already tell they are going to rake in all sorts of awards and acclaim for this...

I didn't say I didn't like it. It was just...I don't know....seems like it's setting us up for something good, but that first episode didn't really do much for me. But I'm definitely curious as to what the 2nd episode will bring....
