The Miami Heat are not expected to pursue Andrew Bynum in free agency, according to a source.

The Heat have been working hard with Greg Oden in order to get him healthy enough to play in the playoffs.

Bynum figured to be of interest to the Heat as a valuable player in their probable matchup in the playoffs against Roy Hibbert and the Indiana Pacers.

The Heat already have filled their 15 roster spots.

according to Marc Spears of yahoo.

Bynum was way too expensive and their roster is filled so it makes sense.

Good, all teams should stop communicating with Bynum, boycott trying to sign him and let him be a bum, show him how he took a postition that people work their asses to be in for granted.

They should leave the minimum out there for him to take if he doesn't get a better offer. Relying on Oden's health seems like a really bad idea.

Bynum wants money and the heat dont have roster spots.

Even if he is I wouldn't take the chance to play him 10-15 mpg in the regular season. Play him in the second round / ECF at the latest.

Lol at ever expecting Oden to make an impact again. I guess relying on Bynum isn't a much better option either though. Heat play small ball and are good at it, they don't need these two useless bigs.

They literally only need Oden to annoy Hibbert for like 10 minutes a game in the ECF. They don't even need him to beat any West teams.

Hibbert is a man mountain.. I give Oden's knees 3 minutes before they blow out like glass again.

When he wanted more than vet min, it was over. Not that they couldn't afford to pay him more with their mini mid level, this guy not only has had a bad past of screwing over teams..it's ongoing. He doesn't know he keeps destroying his own value and the heat would be his last chance. Not only would he have to accept vet min, he would have to agree to their strict standards this championship team demands -- working hard and producing on a strict schedule so they don't get affected by bad outside influences.

Maybe NY or Dallas will get him for vet min but they are not real contenders. Despite what he does, his career pretty much is almost over at 27. Pretty sad.

No point considering Oden is apparently capable of playing 10-15 minutes (which is all they rrally need of him) right now based on what the coaching staff have said and the pre-game sessions. Heat don't need a cancer like Bynum to disrupt the chemistry.

What is there to hope for though? Not only will he be shit scared of doing anything out there but he hasn't played a game in 4 years.

Also, I don't know why but whenever I see Oden I always end up starring at his knees thinking something outta happen. I remember his pre season game a few months ago I was scared anything the man jumped.

Not to mention having two semi injured big men is a big roster liability. They will have to cut the roster down to 12 for the playoffs. Are they going take two of these unreliable guys to the playoffs? Limits you to a small rotation and little backup for the other positions.

That's for about as much chance of happening as a B-Roy comeback to make the all star game does.

Oden is coming back with about 20 or so games left in the reg season. They are keeping him off the court to preserve his knees.

The Heat don't need Bynum to win the championship and they likely don't need Oden either, he's just a bonus.

The Roster spot "problem" cant really be an issue can it? just cut Roger Mason, dude is a complete scrub. Every time I watch him play he's making retarded turnovers or air balling open jumpers.

The whole state of Indiana just exhaled.

Not so fast. This is how Riley works. I probably shouldn't even post this on the interwebs, but it's true. You will never hear a peep from Miami front office until it actually happens, and they will deny deny deny.

Just like Miami was denying any interest in Michael Beasley.... until it was reported that the Heat signed Michael Beasley. I am not saying Miami wants Bynum, but if they do, I ignore every single media report, because nobody will know what Riley wants and he never tells anyone.

The same thing will happen with Bynum, if Miami is interested. They will never tell anyone in the media, period. Not a single reporter on this planet, on the entire planet earth, has legit access to Riley's motives. He never tells anyone, and every time something happens, the media guys here in Miami are as shocked as some guy in California.

Look at how easily everyone in this thread officially believes Miami doesn't want Bynum, simply due to this report. Hopefully Indiana and other teams relax now, if they think Miami doesn't want him:)
