Not sure if that's sarcasm, but I just used the heights listed in the article :coleman:

Not sarcasm, real life heights of players are rarely known/used in articles and discussions most people just throw around list info like it's real. So congrats to the writer of the article I guess if it wasn't your idea to use his real life height.

How much of a height difference should it look like? 8 inches is a lot. Muresan is enormous, tho, and he looks like a ghost.

Muresan, if healthy and if allowed by mother nature, could have been the greatest Center of all-time.

Muresan? Can the Heat get him?
2 questions:

1. Would he play for the minimum?
2. Would this make the Heat the most stacked team in NBA history?

A guy who has his way against just about any player in the league, Houston Rockets center Hakeem Olajuwon, was confused. The reigning Most Valuable Player's first foray into the lane Tuesday against Gheorghe Muresan, the Washington Bullets' 7-foot-7 center, was blocked, and suddenly the game's best low-post player was turned into a long-range jump-shooter.

"I couldn't do anything against him -- I just couldn't get into the flow offensively," said Olajuwon, who ended up hitting just eight of 20 shots in Tuesday's 93-85 win over the Bullets. "I saw lots of improvement from little Gheorghe from last year to this year. I don't really compare him to [former 7-4 Utah Jazz center] Mark Eaton, because he is very active.

he really was very skilled, he shot at 7-7 tall 70% ft% and at his peak when he won MIP he had better stats than hibbert has now vs weaker centers. i think he would get the max in todays league. without bad luck and with current medicine he could be really special.

i miss tall good centers :facepalm smallball:facepalm

Muresan had a lot of skill and he understood the game really well but he had some limitations and just had trouble in general keeping up. It wasn't hard for teams to make him a liability just by pushing the ball more and taking advantage of the fact he had trouble getting up and down the court and his stamina just wasn't great (through no really fault of his, mind you).

On a side note, it's really hard to appreciate just how massive he is. When I was about 12 or so, I had tickets a row or two back from the Bullets bench on a night Gheorghe wasn't getting in the game and had the entire game blocked because my seat located directly behind him (he noticed towards the end of the game and apologized actually). I've also run into a few times around the Norther Virginia are in the last few years and it really just overwhelming to be in his presence and kind of feels surreal.

This is good news. I dunno who spread that rumor maybe a year or 2 back that Muresan passed away.
Happy to know eventually he is alive. Sure I google these things after I hear about them, but for some reason I believed it because he is so damn tall. Was it Manute Bol? Maybe I am confusing the treebeards.

Yes, it was Bol.
Muresan was allegedly not healthy, either, so I'm happy to see him in a seemingly good condition.
I wonder, btw, whether he's still 7'7 or whether he's lost a bit since his youth.

Players grow till 21, you know. Not saying he was 7', but draft height isn't always accurate.
