Good old nostalgia :pimp:

I don't completely agree with him, there is defense played today and a few hard fouls here and there, but everything else is pretty spot on...

hes right tho. dudes like lebron, durant, paul, harden.. all floppers, divas, etc. the game is soft which is why MEN like Tim Duncan have been able to dominate even at 50 yrs old.

He doesn't like it because his greatest skill would be rendered useless with the rules against touch fouls.

He's an old bastard reminiscing of times gone. He isn't the first and he certainly won't be the last. Find me that one athlete who glorified the new generation over his own.

He is right.

The best player in the world is a flopping bitch. Then we have players like Durant and Harden who live at the free throw line. He is 100 percent right, everything about the NBA is being softened, dudes get T'd up for mean mugging each other.

Every old player says that about almost every era. Starting from Wilt. He said something similar like that about the 80s and 90s. In the 1991 playoffs, some guy was complaining about how the league restricted defense compared to the 70s, and it would be better to guard a guy like MJ better in the 70s, but praise how the Pistons guarded him.

People were complaining about the how they didn't like the early 00s game because the offense was bad and too many isos. MJ, Doc Rivers, and Bird said the same thing about this era, about how it's not as physical. Doesn't mean they are wrong or right, but this has always been a trend from retired players.

You can bet you about a decade from now, players from this era would say how they like their era better and list the reasons why. Payton isn't the first and won't be the last.

He made some good points but let's be honest he would never acknowledge that he is spreading more from nostalgia then actual reason.

I Agree With Him. The NBA Changed Alot From The Late 90s Till Now. Its a Total Different Game Based On 3 Point Shooting: Which The Only Aspect I Think That Has Gotten Better Today.

B-Ball IQ
Team Passing Game
Ideal Shot Selection
Mid Range Game
Post Game
Real Big Men Camping Out In The Paint
Holding in Screens and Picks
Use Of 2 Hands in the Post To Guard
Perimeter Handchecking
Normal and Real Fouls...Today are Flagrants
Allow of Roughness and Toughness

The Game is More Like a Ballet Show Instead of True In Your Face B-Ball

Horry 7 > Bulls 6 :confusedshrug:
hence horry can walk into the bulls main office and say i have more rings than your entire organization, correct.

Every generation will think their time is better. Nothing to see here.

But some of them are right, unless you think the game hasnt changed or that every change has been for the better.

Look at the 90s compared too now, based purely on the eye test its different. Now explain to me why now is better.

The nolstagia argument is valid, but I think a lot of people throw that out because they hate the thought they are possibly watching a softer/different/worse League then the past or that their fav player is playing in the softer/weaker league possibly.

nothing's more entertaining than watching a superstar in his prime leave his city and team up with other superstars.
