three straight trips to the Finals are taking a toll on this Team and four in a row seems unlikely.

only one team can stop them in the east and talking about this in the middle of the eason isn't really going to decide anything or convince anyone to sway either way
if they beat indiana they will win the championship. am starting to get sick of the heat in the finals but I think this script will hold true for one more year

I actually think the Pacers beat them this year.
Four straight years in the big dance is tough, and as someone pointed out, has not happened since the '84-'87 Celtics. It's a hard toll on any team. The only team in the East I can see knocking them off are the Pacers, but it really is a mental battle at this point. Pacers have all the tools to do it, but they also have the memories of two straight playoff exits against the Heat.

Well where they will slack is in the regular season, as we are currently seeing. But, they will still finish as a 2 seed because the east is terrible. Since we all know the inevitability of a Pacers-Heat ECF, the Pacers are the only real threat. They are a good team, but if Dwade and Oden are healthy then I like the heat in 6 games. Oden would negate the huge size advantage of Hibbert, Bron will play lockdown D on Paul George, Chris Bosh and David West will cancel each other out, and DWade will be an offensive threat. Beasley would also be an x-factor. I'm expecting them vs Golden State/Houston/San Antonio/ OKC in the finals.

They're conserving energy with their stacked roster for a second consecutive easy romp through the playoffs in the abysmal Leastern Conference. This much is obvious. Everyone's pumped to play them, and they are saving energy for championship contention. It isn't hard to understand.

Droid101
01-16-2014, 03:38 AM
Probably not. I mean, for many years now +/- differential has been a better predictor of future success than win/loss record.
Last year, the Heat had the best +/- other than OKC (who lost their second best player during the playoffs).
This year, Indiana, San Antonio, OKC, Portland, and the Clippers have a better +/- than the Heat.

It's a better prediction this year than the past 2 when they were miles ahead of every single team in the East. Now the Pacers have reached that elite level, so it will be interesting how it plays out.

Seeing how weak the East is this year it'll be interesting to see where the Heat's motivation is come the ECF. Can they able to cruise through the regular season & the first 2 rounds of the playoffs, then turn it all the way up suddenly & beat the Pacers?
3 straight years 2 the Finals is taking it's toll already, another deep run may be it for this group just because we've seen this happen before.
Legends66NBA7
01-16-2014, 06:08 PM
There are a couple of teams that could upset either team before they can meet each other in the ECF.
I could possibly see Miami being out worked by tough defensive squads, but then again they do have a very strong and battle tested core. I could see Indiana being stopped on offense just enough for other teams to squeeze a win out from them, but then again their defensive effort had been impressive all year.
Regardless, there a couple of teams out there, so I can't really say that it's just a conclusion that we have a Miami vs Indiana ECF yet, let alone if Miami will make it to the Finals this year.

If they were smart, they would just feed their big men and crash the boards. Jennings and Smith are going to mess things up, though.

Is Mo Cheeks smart enough to keep banging the ball to his bigs? I dunno, but they are another team that can exploit Miami's weakness, I def would love to watch the game plan there, Josh Smith should be the piece that gets traded, not Monroe

I don't know why they even signed Smith.
Cheeks implements more ISO ball strategy, so that's where I see Miami just exploiting them over and over again. I'd see the Heat winning that series, but I think if they get stretched over 5 games, that will definitely come back to haunt them.

Yea I see 5 games but might get stretched to 6.
Smith needs to get traded for a better SF, the size is good but he jacks up too many shots and it's really detrimental to the team, Jennings has been a bit of a surprise, but that series comes down to what Monroe and Drummond do, for that to work, Smith needs to go.

They could never rebound. Always been that way.
I think their defense will turn up a notch when the conf semis start. Miami could seriously half-ass the playoffs and sweep their first two opponents. They're that good.
Miami will probably 3-peat. Next year they have little to no shot though.
