Last year Lebron was the best player in the league followed closely by Durant. This year Durant is now ahead of Lebron. Do you think Lebron feels embarrassed about this? And is there any chance he can reclaim his number 1 spot?

Do you mean can he reclaim the MVP favorite status? Yes he can
He's still the best player in the league, Durant has to prove himself where it matters. But he is the MVP for now pretty clearly

Last year at this point it was close. It ain't even close right now and LeBron knows it. Thats why he tried to pick the shitty Wizards as a statement game to maybe regain some MVP traction, but that failed miserably. Joyner made some long post about it, Durant is just outplaying LeBron in all facets of basketball. LeBron is letting his man score TWICE as much on defense. He's not even playing defense half the time. He's seriously the biggest cherry picker in the game.
Durant has had a statline of 30-5-5 or better 14 times this season. OKC is 12-2 in those games. LeBron has had a statline of 30-5-5 or better 6 times this season. Miami is 3-3 in those games.

He has proven himself though. Dominated the Spurs at age 23 (did much better than LeBron ever has done vs them) and then scored 31PPG in the finals on 55% (something LeBron will never do). Also hit 3 game winning shots in the playoffs alone that year. Hit 2 game winning shots last year in the playoffs.
He was just on a young, inexperienced team with a young HC that failed to make adjustments. The refs were also pulling hard for LeBron to get his first ring just like Wade in 2006.
What could have possibly happened that caused Durant in only 38 regular season games to be "ahead" of a back-to-back MVP/FMVP/Champion?
The only thing Durant is arguably "ahead" of right now is the MVP race... just like he was at this stage previous two seasons until Lebron turned it up.... and even if he eventually wins it while Lebron is around it wont matter if the same thing happens for Lebron/Durant in the post season again.... same way it didnt matter when Karl Malone / Charles Barkley won it over Michael Jordan....
Durant is great, but will forever be in Lebron's shadow until he officially "dethrones" him... and there is no better way to do that than the outcome of playoffs/finals... he has to do to Lebron what Lebron did to Kobe... just outbetter him in every category without question... performance on both ends, MVP while then most importantly become a Champion/FVMP.... only then could everybody (even the worst Kobe stans ever) call Lebron officially "best player in the NBA".....

Call me when Durant can lead his team to a .500 record without Westbrook.:sleeping We need to stop overhyping Durant and his empty stats, especially since they don't lead to wins unless he has another top 5 player beside him. Hell, at this point Durant isn't even on Melo's level!

Indeed, Durant is this generations TMAC! :lol Lots of points that don't lead to wins without a true alpha dog beside him.
Lebron at least has an excuse for struggling without Wade this year. Bron is tired from 3 straight trips to the finals, and he has the oldest supporting cast in the NBA. Durant is only 25 and has a bunch of young studs playing beside him every night! :biggums:

Durant has been playing without Westbrook and Ibaka for some games..... Ray Allen is still a servicable player who saved LeBrons ass in the finals, give him some more credit.

Have you watched Ray Allen play over the last few weeks? Dude has been hot garbage! :facepalm If I were Spo I would consider taking him out of the rotation for a while. Ray is the greatest 3 point shooter ever, but at some point everyone gets old. As for Bosh, that guy will have 1 great game and follow it up with 9 bad ones. Sorry, but a 100 million dollar man should be a little more consistent don't you think? Wade has been great this year and seems to have improved his jumper A LOT, but I'm not certain he won't be back to last years playoff form, which was cringworthy.

As I said, everyone gets old. Do you honestly think players retire because they get tired of playing the game? News flash, they don't. You don't necessarily play the same way when you're coming off two consecutive chips/MVP/FMVP's. Lebron is coasting in a way Durant cannot allow himself to do at this point in his career (early prime; few achievements).
Make no mistake, Lebron is better and will remain so until Durant has proven otherwise (won a championship).
In any case, a .5 PER advantage isn't exactly resounding evidence of being better. Obviously there is some eye testing that needs to be done.

Come on Red1, clutch is shooting 6 for 24 in the biggest game of your career, shooting 10 free throws in the fourth; having your teammates shoot an additional 10 in the fourth and having Ron Ron bust a three to win the game. That is clutch!!!!
I dont get it when ray allen's three is used as a knock. Derrick fisher been making clutch threes for kobe an entire decade and robert horry bailed shaq and kobe out as well. The fact that basketball is a team sport seems to escape some people

So by this prove it in the playoffs before he becomes the best player in the league logic..I'm assuming those of you pushing this also believed Kobe was still the best player in the league until the end of the 2012 season when LeBron won the title right? Because before that point, Durant has just as much success as LeBron in the playoffs.

Durant had more help than Lebron, still lost in the finals to the better player King James.

Durant's teammates averaged 67 ppg on 50.2 TS% in the Finals

Because LeBron is coasting, statistically he's not the best player in the NBA. He shouldn't be leading in MVP standings right now. I fully expect him to reclaim himself in the best in the NBA once the games matter aka the playoffs.

he can't win: scrub teammates

being surpassed by Durant: he's coasting

honestly, lebron loves stats coz thats the only way he thinks he can beat jordan so theres no way hes coasting and the washington game prove that. He doesnt believe in his self to be able to produce at least 6 rings and so he goes the wilt route which is statpadding. And now they are fooled into believing hes a top 3 GOAT just like wilt.

LeBron never lost the spot. Just because Durant is putting up slightly better high volume numbers, while Lebron is playing a career low minutes, with a career low usage doesn't mean Durant is a better player.
Durant is playing great, and should be the front runner for MVP , but he still isn't better than LeBron. Troll harder.

Maybe if you have an ounce of IQ, you would realize, in order to maintain that efficiency he has to play off the ball for easy fast break points(w/c means sacrificing assists and rebound) right? And the less shots you take, the higher the FG%
