Free, Interesting ebooks for the Kindle

Hook a brother up. It seems like most of the free ebooks available are either old (and old always= boring) or really crappy. Anyone have any recommendations? Or sources?

did you mean books that are legitimately free or ones that you can download in torrents and use a program to convert and upload them to your kindle. because the differences in recs are astonishing.

and any authors your enjoy reading? would help in recommendations.

that was a joke, mostly. Yeah, I meant legit free books, but I may check out some of these other options. the free, .99, 1.99, etc through amazon seem so full of junk that its hard to find the good ones.
