He still is really athletic if you watch his highlights from this season. Still gets great elevation

It's mostly his quickness and mobility. Not really ups.

Looks like Portland Arvydas Sabonis out there. With 2% of the skill.

And this is why this dudes downhill run isn't going to be pretty.

Seemed like a lot of his game relied on that.

Dwight athleticism hasn't been same since 2011. Ever since his back surgery he hasn't been the same athlete since. Dwight will keep declining year by year due to little footwork and basic basketball fundamentals. Good player but never was great.

His footwork is getting better, slowly but it is.

He still seems pretty athletic :confusedshrug:

It's his lack of post moves/finesse, foul proneness, poor decision making, average at best ball handling, no shooting range, high turnovers that hurts him.

Should have rode that wave of confidence in 2011, in which he was attempting/making some jump shots and bank shots (check the highlights and shot charts) and playing his best offense ever, but instead he reverted, and it's not about fluctuating athleticism entirely.

It still ain't very good, he should be way better than what he is today. Dwight been in the NBA ten years now and still sucks with his back to the basket his post moves are terrible, bad FT shooter, total diva. The dude will end up being a huge waste of potential as soon as he calls it a career.

Dwight can only dream of having 2% of sabonis' footwork and skills

You're right, multiple first team all-NBA + DPoTY accolades means he was never great. :applause:

Freak athleticism only gets you so far. He's the same old same old, but with age, he's going to look worse each year. Not that he's not a great player, but not a franchise big, obviously.

with age you lose the hops last.
first is always quickness/mobility, which are much more relevant. It don't matter if he can jump like a monkey if don't have the quickness/mobility to play like a true one, cuz he sure ain't playin like a center out there, rarely boxing out, going for highlight blocks instead of playing positional defense, etc

It's safe to say that Dwight would not age well. He lacks go-to moves to compensate his athletic decline.

Him and LeBron would be warming the bench seats in the near future. :applause:

I see very little improvement if any since 2009. Dwight is 28 now, he's not a young guy and he's not suddenly going to come back one summer with basic fundamentals. Dwight now is as good as Dwight is ever going to get:lol

Dwight is and never was a great player. He had one fluke finals run and thats it. He peaked early. One fluke finals run in the weak ass Eastern Conference does not equal greatness.

Dwight averages 18/13. Freak athletes like JaVale, Jordan and Drummond don't average that. He has some talent that isn't entirely reliant on being an out-of-this-world athlete. He won't age as well as Duncan or Kareem, no. But please stop acting like he's a scrub this season, or has been throughout his career. Best centre in the league for 5 years is elite. If you don't recognise that, you're an idiot.

Haha that about sums it up.

Dwight is average, 3rd best C in the league, no skill bum that relys on athleticism only. One fluke title run, and has no heart to win chips...

Ohh who does that remind you of..

So you're saying the Boston Celtics team who had just won the finals the year before was weak? Also he played the Cavaliers which had the league MVP , not to mention they were in the finals a couple years prior to Dwight playing them. So yea it was definitely a fluke alright, especially when your best second option was Jameer Nelson and Hedo:facepalm you continue to be a crap poster

Yeah...It wasn't the same team, the bulls took us 7 extremely close games and if it wasn't for that big baby gw we wouldn't have lasted long. Had we gone to the finals I reckon we would've met an uglier fate against the lakers. The year after that we were on the verge of sweeping them after 3 games against a better Magic team(they had VC).

KG played a huge role in that Celtics team, not only he was the anchor, he was the heart of the team and the in-court leader

Arvydas had all the skill in the world lol.
Americans should be blessed that he couldn't come to the NBA in his prime pre-injuries, you would have the first international player in your top 5
