I gotta go with Will.i.am on this one. Not just the music, but the whole package.

I dig Will as a person.

Check It Out and The World Is Crazy are my favorite jams.

I've been feeling Chris Brown a lot lately. Don't know if you consider him strictly as a "pop" artist, but he's had a few poppy hits here and thurr. I like his IDGAF attitude, and smacks bitches left and right. The type of person i am, and the type of shit i do.

I like International Love and YEAH x3!!!!!

I'm back and forth with Justin Timberlake and Alicia Keys. I went to both their concerts this year and had a blast. Those are the only 2 I listen to other than some odd singles.

Haha, I love Chris.

I remember tearing up when I listened to Crawl for the first time.

Don't Wake Me Up was my alarm for the longest time.

Never really got into Justin... I mean, I can dig Cry Me A River and What Goes Around.. but not really my cup of tea.

Alecia is awesome though. Always been a fan. If I Ain't Got You is an all-time favorite song of mine.

Really? Always thought she was severely overrated.

To each their own though. I can't even think of a Britney song that I actually like. And let's not act like she has a supreme voice or any relevant dance skills..... Just a girl who capitalized on sexual appeal at a young age. Kinda like what Miley is doing now...

I like Wrecking Ball, 7 Things, The Climb, I Miss You, Party In The USA, and even Best Of Both Worlds for nostalgia reasons more so than anything Britney has put out.

But again, to each their own.

How is Keys' voice in a live setting? I only know live footage off youtube, and
it's not that impressive imo. I like her first album, don't care for her direction after that though.

You feel nostalgic over shit that is happening right now? Miley Cyrus gives you nostalgia?
That was referring to the last song I mentioned, "Best Of Both Worlds" which was the theme song for her Disney show. It's like 8 years old. I used to watch the show as a kid, hence the nostalgia.

Budadiiii
01-17-2014, 02:08 PM
I stand corrected, that song is 12 years old.

Damn, where did the time go?

Budadiiii
01-17-2014, 02:11 PM
Just odd that anyone who talks basketball would be nostalgic for that. Seems like Hannah Montana was popping like 2 years ago. How old were you when Get Rich dropped? In the womb? :biggums:
The nostalgia part was clearly exclusive to that one song, which is 12 years old.

Not sure how Miley 2 years ago is relevant to anything, but continue on anyway.

Budadiiii

It came out in 2006. So while people were flying high and ballin', you were jamming to Miley Cyrus.
Yes, I was watching Disney as a 10 year old kid.

Still am jamming to Miley BTW. Not a music snob.

It's more about you being a lot younger than I thought. Nothing wrong with that. I'm just sad you never got to witness early 00s ball. :confusedshrug:
I remember seeing Shaq and Aaron Carter do a video together. The **** you talking about?

And I've watched a ton of footage from the 80's to now. I guess I didn't get to experience it 'live'...

Guess I grew up in the wrong generation. :confusedshrug:

Ellie Goulding
Avicii
Zedd
Ariana Grande
Beyonce
Ed Sheeran
Bruno Mars
Imagine Dragons
Cool list.

You included Ellie solely because of Burn or are there other songs I should know about?

Bolded are the only true 'pop artists' on the list. The others are well received by many but pop music needs to be accessible or exposed to all ages IMO. The others qualify as talented who have gotten recognition but not really household names who everyone at a family reunion has familiarity with.

True but a lot of families know her if their kids watch Disney and shit. She's not a typical household name but parents and kids both know her through other endeavors and she has a more formulaic, bubble gum kinda sound.

Yeah, she's much more relevant than anyone on that list not named Bruno Or Beyonce in terms of being a household name and what not, just not in the same tier as those two.

She's actually very talented though. Can't even front, I dig her music.

You still never saw any of that when it happened. That just blows my mind to another degree. We're not even talking the end of Jordan here, we're talking Iverson and T-Mac. :oldlol:
I def remember AI on the Nuggets and TMAC on the Rockets, but yeah, I didn't hardcore get into the NBA until the Hornets came to my hometown.

My first ever NBA game was the Hornets vs Cavs in 2006. LeBron hit a game winner with .5 seconds left. I remember being incredibly salty after the game.

My heart broke even more when the Hornets lost to the Spurs in 07. I threw a gatorade bottle threw my wall during that series. I ****ing hate Manu and I hate the Spurs.

Chris Paul was my first 'favorite NBA player'

I've been a fan since his N'Sync days. I'm also a big fan of Timba so the partnership made me naturally into his music. His presence in collabos automatically makes it a winner
Sappy to say but "This I Promise You" was me and my girl's song when we started dating. But as far as his tunes go mostly anything he made with Timba. The 20/20 Experience stuff I really like. Since Legends Of Summer was my first time seeing him live this stuff has a place in my heart.
He's just an all round good entertainer

I know you're not talking about Ariana Grande right now.
She has a great voice and makes catchy music.

If something makes me feel good, then I like it. Her singing makes me feel good, that's all there really is to it. I like Grande as much as I like Radio Head. All about the feels mang.

Nah she's actually my favorite female artist. I've been listening to her since 2010. 'Lights' is another one of her biggest hits.
Oh damn. Always loved the song but never knew who it was by.

Those two hits alone make her quality in my book. :applause:

That Lights song iz the shit. I got so high listening to that song it felt like an out of body experience. Me and two other friends in the car after a gym session. Damn.

Thanks for the reminder

I went to Girl On Fire. This was especially memorable for me since this was my son's first ever concert.
Her voice is off the chain although as a performer she is lacking. She stretches unfamiliar songs a little too long where you lose interest. I understand she wants to showcase her talent but it went too long into unfamiliar songs. She brought it all back with No One (my all-time favorite song with her) Girl On Fire and Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart (Supremely underrated Song)
But this is Alicia Keys so I loved every minute

Funny story, because I know her catalog fairly well, I jammed hard to nearly every song. There was this young girl sitting on the other side of me, probably early 20's, looked hispanic. She asked me to dance, lol. My son saw me get hit on. He thought it was hilarious. I said your dad is a stud boy!

This X 100.

Can't believe she hasn't been mentioned yet. Her songs are the uppity up of the western world.

Kesha is another guilty pleasure of mine. Something about the way she carries herself intrigues me and her music is that gritty party pop that be knockin' my socks off on the daily.

She actually has an IQ of 160 or some shit, no lie.

Sorry but I cannot stand her. All her music is about bashing men and empowering women. One song is enough but a whole career? Same thing with Beyonce.
This is why I like artists like Alicia Keys and Lauryn Hill over the typical scorn woman music

I actually came across a Lorde performance on Palladia the other day, and was almost instantly turned off by her. Came off very gothic, and dark to me. She was doing some very weird shit. Ain't nobody got time for that. *turns channel*

I listened to that one song Royals, liked it, but after seeing her live I've avoided said goth like the plague. I don't have time for humble beginnings, misfit, we aren't your average every day peeps music. Ain't my thing.

First, I'm not going to talk about Miley Cyrus here :D

My favourite pop artist is Lana Del Rey. She's f*cking awesome. You guys have to check her out. I just discovered her music a few months ago. I love the style of the music and her voice is great as well. Beautiful music. I'm probably listening to more Lana than anything else these days. You will like her Budadiii.

She made a song taking the blame for her and Lautners failed relationship. :confusedshrug:

You gonna tell me you wouldn't get up and start dancing if "22" was bumping in your household, right now?

Think back to when you were 22, and play the song. Boom. That's happiness.

Also, being less repetitive than those names is like saying I'm smart because so and so actually has down syndrome.

I don't find her repetitive at all. I think has a lot more diversity than you're average pop star. Plus she's very multi talented. Considering what's out there. Joh Legend is considered brilliant yet I find they are similar in diversity in their catalogs.

Prince has got to be number one.

Every component of his charisma just completely resonates with my soul.

I'm a Scorpio with a long ring finger and the ring finger symbolizes Dionysis; aka the God of wine, revelry and partying. Naturally, celebration love and sexuality are harmonious and aligned with my beliefs. Likewise not a fan of that "IT's nto about the money money song" or Lorde; as Budadii astutely said; it simply does not carry the right vibe with our station in life.

His mix of versatiltiy (dude plays massive amounts of instruments, dandy like attitude), diligence (dude works very hard), well-travelednses (adored by Middle Easterns and Southeast Asians), and ability to be emotionally open (Purple Rain dispilayed Sadness, Little Red Corvette upbeat) really really speaks volumes about his legendary persona.

Whenever I listen to the beginning of Let's Go Crazy and how he promises heaven.. every chakra of mine lights up.

I'm going to go ahead and add Aguilera. Here's why.

- Genie in a Bottle
- Fighter
- Dirrty
- Tell Me (feat. Diddy, although didy stole the show)
- Reflection
and many more.

She's got range.

Perry as well with Dark Horse and Wide Awake and E.T.

Backstreet Boys Everybody was a great music video point blank period.

For some reason, Ace of Base and ABBA too
They were just a bunch of Europeans (I think from Scandinavia) who came to America and were hustling to make ends meet; and their music is t. Lot of wisdom and stories behind their songs.

I saw the sign, it's a beautiful life, all that she wants can be played in the background forever with no complaints here lol.
