I know rounding up 7.5 and 5.5 to 8 and 6 is pretty generous, but sill, averaging 36-8-5 on 50% FG and 64% TS is absurdly good. If you can't appreciate Durant right now, you're not a basketball fan. He's playing at a level that a very few NBA players have ever reached.

So what? It's not his fault that he's huge. It doesn't take anything away from him. No one was big nor strong enough to guard prime Shaq either. 7-1 and 300 pounds, do people discredit his accomplishments due to his size and strength?

Lebron is also pretty tall and has the speed of a D.Rose and a 40+ vertical, should we also say that it's easy for Bron to score because nobody is strong or quick enough to guard him inside?

I'm just saying it's not impressive when you're taller than everyone. Look at Jordan. He was mostly skill. Shaq, yes people do discredit his work ethic. He got by on size. Bron is skill, he is a team player.

Mostly skill? MJ is one of the most gifted athletes in NBA history :biggums:

When he came into the league, he barely had a jump shot and he was mostly limited outside the paint, yet he was scoring 30 ppg on above 50% shooting, because no one was quick enough to stop him from going inside for layups, much like Cleveland Lebron.

MJ is basically a more athletic version of Kobe, both have very similar skillsets, but MJ was that much quicker and stronger. Plus he could palm the ball. MJ had freakishly huge hands.

reminds me of the season Kobe had to take on in '05: no other reliable scoring option on the team... okay, guess it's on me.

Durant's just killing it right now. Good for him and good for the fans. Great to watch guys who can just light it up.

2005? Kobe averaged 27 ppg on only 43% shooting and the lakers missed the playoffs for the first time in over a decade and for only the third time in franchise history. He wasnt on either ALL NBA first or second teams. Im not sure how that similar to what Durant is doing.

Durantula is beasting but he can't keep this up for long periods. Especially come playoffs, where a team will let him do all that for grueling games and take away all his teammates. It will essentially be like Lebron was against the Magic in 09. The West has too many good teams, there are no playoff lapdogs like there are in the east.

Which is why it is important for Westbrook to come back. Reggie Jackson is good starting but he was so much better as a bench player where he understood his role. It's great to see these numbers by Durant, but I miss Westbrook. Come back soon! I know you're on this message board Russ :oldlol:

He is clearly the best player on the planet and the MVP. The things he can do with the ball for someone his size is absolutely amazing. He's got the athleticism to be a monster on the fast break, but he also has all the skills you need to be a game changer in the half court. It's beautiful to watch him take over games.
