Incredible performance from DiCaprio. Entertaining movie.

He will not win the best actor. The black dude off 12 years of a Slave has it locked up.

I usually find that DiCaprio is overpraised by his fans but his performance in this was one of his best ever.Definitely deserves the Oscar here. This film in general was just brilliant. If I made a list of top 10 Scorsese films, I'd probably fit in there. GOAT director

4. The King of Comedy

I don't think it will bother you at all in the movie. One, it's a long movie, so they have more time to curse. Second and more importantly, it feels true to the characters. The movie even comments on it, the main character was surprised at how much Wall Streeters curse. The characters in the movie are pretty vile. The characters in movie are not legit brokers, but scammers and con men who basically lied all day long and ripped people off. Scorsese said it's a movie about contempt.

Swap Casino and The Departed and that's pretty much my list, TWOWS was a great movie, just a tad too long, it dragged on a little and could have had about 20 - 30 mins dropped off it.

Scorsese has a couple big projects coming up with a few he would like to do

He's got a movie called "The Silence" next about a Portuguese Jesuit in Japan based on a Japanese book

After that, my most awaited one personally, he's doing the gangster genre again with Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, and Joe Pesci called "The Irishman"

I've also heard he wants to someday a movie about Frank Sinatra

No shame in going to theaters by yourself. I didn't want to go alone when I was younger, but as I aged I realized that with friends being busy with work, kids, etc., it becomes more difficult to get people together for every movie you want to catch in theaters. Just last Wednesday I went to a cheap theater to catch Escape Plan alone.

My assumption is that it is underrated because it is Scorsese's closest in style and story to Goodfellas (plus 2 main cast members overlapping) so people watch it and it reminds them that they'd rather be watching Goodfellas.

Horrible analogy:

1. If people are reminded of the Goodfellas, then that is a good thing since it is one of the best movies ever made.

2. Why would it make them want to watch Goodfellas when they've already seen it in the first place? Nobody ever goes, "Y'know this movie is as good Goodfellas, but y'know I don't care to finish it, although it is f*ckin good as hell, I would rather turn it off and watch Goodfellas for the 100th time."

So the movie is so good it'll remind them of Goodfellas, but yet, they don't want to watch it and would prefer to watch something they've already seen before? Your logic is retarded. Try again.

First, learn what an analogy is before saying something is a horrible analogy.

If you want an analogy, here is one: Casino is a like a sequel to a loved movie. Even if it is a good sequel, people will have their hopes up so much for it because of their love of the first that it will disappoint them. Take Anchorman for example. The sequel was really funny, but people had such high expectations for it because of their love of the original. When they finished the movie, it simply wasn't the same as the one they loved and it makes it disappointing. And I never said Casino is as good as Goodfellas, I said I liked it more.

I saw that in Inception but I felt like his performance in Wolf was good as it's ever been. I agree that What's Eating Gilbert Grape was a stronger performance but when considering he anchored Wolf for 3 hours as opposed to a supporting role, it makes it more impressive

Just felt like he did everything in this flick. His comic ability in this was off the chart and played his dramatic scenes very well too. And I usually find the guy overrated too

I was disappointed in the last really hyped up Scorsese film (The Departed) and the last hyped up DiCaprio film (Inception).

I wouldn't put Departed in the top half of Scorsese's best works. I thought it was mediocre, relative to his other stuff.

And Inception was just flat-out annoying. I could barely make it to the end.

Hopefully, this helps erase those experiences.

you know I love to use the word bitch and kunt as much as the next guy , but the way scorsese depicts women in this movie is much like goodfellas and his other movies, they are just there for fukking and they get mad and start yelling at random, and they are stupid/shallow as hell too....

...... Karen Hill from goodfellas appears in all scorsese movies..........am i right or wrong here in this analysis of his view on girls/women ?

Many women are like that in real life too bro, thats just how the world is. I know many who are as cuntish and crazy as the ones in Scorsese movies. That's just how the world is. Chicks who get with big shot gangsters and business men are not usually kind hearted loving ladies with no drama.

I'm inclined to agree.

We're not dealing with humble people here. The film portrayed ego maniacs spiraling out of control and that includes the women.

People seem to think that women can't be total ***** as well. Never understood that.:confusedshrug:

I just don't like how in the media if a woman character isn't like a Mary Sue doctor/philanthropist in a movie then someone always shouts sexism.

The women are just acting how their real life versions acted. The film is adapted from a true story dont forget.

Just because women take of their clothes for guys with lots of money doesnt make them whores. Who are you to slut shame? Womens just gotta do what they gotta do.

It's adapted from a true story in an extremely lose way. LIke, the people actually existed. But it's basically fiction written around a true story.

None of us were there with Jordan Belfort living his life and witnessing what he did so no one knows how accurate or inaccurate the film is. For all we know the film might be painting a kinder portrait of all people involved.

I'm not saying any of your points are wrong, but you can't use "it's based on a true story" to defend or debase real people because the way the characters act is fictional. Better, worse, who the **** knows but this is fiction painted around a real story.

Well, that plate is real, but I think they have a plate like that ready to go for each actor. That way they can attach it to the award the night it is announced.
