Dude's clearly one of the most overrated players in the league. Nearly $12 million a year for 10/4/4 with solid defense. :lol :lol

I have no idea why this guy is held in such high esteem when he's seemingly a pretty mediocre player.

I'd pay that much for a Baby Lebron.
Half the play of Lebron at half the price !

Are you kidding me? They're almost unbeatable when he's playing this season, and not a PO team without him.

He's one of the most underrated players in the league BECAUSE of his statistics.

Iggy is the reason that regular stats are becoming obsolete. You obviously know nothing about basketball if you think that the only effect he has on the game come from those 3 stats that you mentioned.

Stop watching the stats box and start watching some games OP.

He is a perfect fit. He is a great defender. So klay Thompson no longer has to use so much energy defensively, improving his offense. Iguodala is also a good ball handler and passer, which is good when you got shooters like klay, curry, and lee. Also, it allows Barnes to be their 6th man scorer giving them production off the bench.

Iggy is the definition of a glue guy. Probably the best glue guy in the league but that also depends on the pieces being stuck together which we can safely say GSW has great+versatile pieces that he brings together.

Bottom line Iggy is the best glue guy in the league and his value has been shown when he was injured, he takes heat off Klay/Curry on the defensive end and blends in the offense which shows with his efficient 3pt shooting which is a product of a well orchestrated offense. Also his playmaking/ball handling ability has always been one of his attributes hence his assist total which also allows the Warriors to run interesting sets with Curry off-ball which adds a whole new dynamic to their offense.

When you add all these factors Iggy brings to the table, it's understandable that he's getting paid that amount. I'm glad the Kings didn't go through with their offer for Iggy because they don't have the right pieces that Iggy can "glue" together.

Hes a top 20 player in this league. The Warriors are 5-7 w/o him

he is overpaid for being a defensive specialist

Box score watchers :facepalm

Look at the Warriors record without Iguodala.

He is overpaid because he is an olympian.

But do you seriously think the Warriors gave a shit paying him that money? Look at the money they threw at Biedris and Richard Jefferson. Plus they playing good that's all that matters man.

The Warriors have a complete team. It doesnt really matter. They might not win, but they need nothing from the free agency department so they could afford to spend that much.

I dont think hes overpaid at all. the stats dont blow you out of the water but for all the things that dont get noticed in the box score, he is providing a lot for the warriors.

defense
leadership
playmaking
locker room presence

this is especially important when he is a veteran leader for young players like Barnes (who will be the SF of the future), Bazemore, and Brooks

Plus other posters have mentioned his seamless ability to fit within the group. He makes Klay and Steph way better players than they have ever been before.

Warriors doesnt need his offense because they got Klay, curry and lee who can each put up 25 pts easily

got their defense from good to top 5 in the league and has made multiple game winners this season. also helps run plays so curry doesn't have to everything. they got him for cheap

a defensive specialist, who plays back up point well and his hit two buzzer beating game winners this year.

The tempo of the game changes completely when Iggy is playing

not overpaid or overrated but i expect better things on O from him, especially when curry is on the bench. he's better than 5-6 FGA some nights

If the Knicks had someone like him instead of a bum like JR, I could tell you they would have 5 more wins and would be above .500. But no, they have JR and they suck because there is no glue guy on the Knicks. Last year is a distant memory :facepalm

He doesn't get paid for his boxscore stats.

He was the perfect player for what they needed. If all you're going to look at is stats then you're misguided.

Cali Syndicate
01-20-2014, 12:31 AM
Iggy can easily put up better stats. The great thing about him is, he knows this but doesn't try to do anything that he doesn't need to. Overpaid? Maybe. Depends who you ask. Signing him will also be the reason Barnes won't re-sign which will make me sad.

When you wonder if Iggy is overrated ask yourself this question -- what if the Warriors spent that money on Josh Smith?
