View Full Version : This NBA season sucks

The regular season is just dragging on, hardly any exciting matches. Everyone is just waiting for the playoffs.

1. Injured Rose = Chicago are irrelevant.
2. Houston is mediocre despite all-star line up.
3. Brooklyn suck despite everything.
4. Miami coasting, Indiana coasting.
5. Only 3 teams in the entire Eastern Conference aren't trying to tank. Let me repeat that: Only 3 teams aren't trying to tank, and one of them (Atlanta) is just a pretender.
6. Kobe injured = LA are boring.
7. New York suck even harder this year than last year.

I can't think of one exciting, unexpected story this season. It's nice to see GSW and Sacramento Kings doing okay, but apart from that the most interesting thing to happen was Anthony Bennet being a bust.
-No big trades
-No Jeremy Lin story
-No rivalry between superstars because every team is coasting and match-ups mean nothing. This is probably what annoys me the most about current NBA. In other sports, if the top 2 teams meet for a match it's a big deal. In the NBA they rest their starters if they feel like it.

That's all for now. End rant.

Translation: the EAST sucks.

The main reason it's lackluster is because of injuries.

If Rose/Westbrook/Paul/Kobe/Bledsoe/Marc Gasol were up and running the whole season it'd be a lot better because that's 6 legit teams.

If I bumped every thread this year that has had the same or a similar title since the season started, we'd probably see 2-3 pages worth.

Yeah, injuries suck and there are tons of disappointing teams/players, but quit complaining about things you have no control over and just enjoy the basketball you can watch. Would you rather another Lockout?

Houston is mediocre? with 65 wining percentage and all of this with a new teammates and tons of injuries. If that is mediocre what is good and what is great?

Imagine if Rose, Brandon Roy, Greg Oden, Westbrook, Kobe, Yao Ming etc. were all healthy.
It sucks that so many elite players go down with injuries these days.

I don't know why he said that, you guys are much better than mediocre. You guys are good but not great. I don't think Houston has made any huge statement games (yes, I know there were some nice wins over Portland and SA), but it's also tempered by the fact you got killed by OKC and Indiana.

Portland has been a surprise, and was an unexpected story and we got to see Durant going off and putting up some great numbers since the Westbrook injury. Jordan style in scoring in January so far.

Other than that, injuries made this season a bit dreadful.

So basically, just shut up if you don't like it? If that's your attitude what are you doing on an NBA forum? People come here to discuss the NBA. I'm discussing how boring the season has been.

If a lockout resulted in a stricter salary cap and a more even spread of talent I would support it over watching this bogus regular season.

Considering their line up, Houston is mediocre.
They have the best centre in the league, potentially the best shooting guard and an elite supporting cast with Parsons and others. They should be title contenders with that sort of talent - but they're not.

I'm happy this is the season that I'm missing due to being abroad this semester. I'm not missing anything remotely interesting.

You don't have to shut up if you don't like it? I'm just saying it's been said over and over again. You're beating a dead horse.

Portland being a factor this year and watching Steph Curry torch the Heat was pretty freaking exciting.

Pacers emerging as a possible dynasty is highly exciting.

If the Heat will 3peat is very exciting.

Will the Spurs get revenge is kinda exciting.

Is Chris Paul gonna regret resigning with the Clippers if they get bounced early in the playoffs again is amazingly exciting.

Will Houston prove to be the bust Laker nation assumes is extremely exciting.

I think we're Good.

They actually choke in a OKC last game, and took the worst collapse in the history of the NBA to do so. Just like OKC killed Houston in their home they were getting kill by Houston in Toyota Center. Indiana? lets wait to meet them again with a healthy team.

Houston is not even close to reaching their potential and they been good so far. You can judge them vs teams who have been playing together for a long time and have been healthy most of the year.

If you want to talk about a team without a statement game talk about San Antonio, the team have been garbage vs contenders and good teams.

You know honestly, even w/ Rose, Kobe, and Westbrook injured, I still think this season could've been good if the Nets and Knicks didn't suck so bad. Think about how many games were supposed to be good but weren't because New York sucks.

I don't know if you guys will ever reach your potential with Kevin "We don't really run plays" McHale and Kelvin "Bench Jeremy Lin for Toney Douglas" Sampson.

Also, what? "They were getting kill by Houston in Toyota center" ? I don't think so... I just checked the box score, you've been beaten twice by OKC, and both games were absolute murder. Also two losses to the Clippers, two losses to Dallas... it isn't a good look for a championship contender.

True that San Antonio hasn't had a big statement game, but it's tough to do so when you're sitting at #1 in the West. The last decade has been San Antonio's statement. Also them beating the Warriors without the big 3 was a statement.

clarification edit: I said Houston was good never said they were mediocre. That was the other guy.

The city of New York is an embarassment to basketball.
The "Mecca?" :wtf: :facepalm

At least it looks like the Nets are starting to turn it around.

San Antonio can't beat anybody good so Are they not contenders?

Did you know that still a half season of basketball to play?

Yes Houston got a great lineup but that great lineup hasn't been healthy all year .

Who are contenders? SA who can't beat anybody good? Portland who Rockets have beating twice? The Clippers somehow are more equip to be contenders? Golden State? I know a healthy OCK still the best team in the west, but if any of the other west team I mention are contender in you mind, then the only reason you declare Houston mediocre is becuase you are not watching them play or you are just a salty Laker fan.

Houston is mediocre?? TF have you been smokin? If you think a team that is 28-15 is mediocre then you are on crack cocaine! The Rockets have 2 more wins and 2 losses less than the warriors and they're only 5 wins behind San Antonio and Indiana. Think again

both games were absolute murder? OCK was getting beat by 16 and have and allow Houston 73 at the half, and it took a history choke for OCK to win, yes OCK didn't win, Rockets choke, even awful teams can score more than 19pts a half especially after jut scoring 73pts. So yes you are a box score watcher and box score watcher are not well equip to know who is or not a contender.

Spurs 1-8 record vs. NBA

Season sucks, but I believe we'll get repaid in the post season. Particularly the ECF. We're headed towards a brutal playoff war between Miami and Indiana. The west is wide open, let's see if MVP Durant can drag the Thunder to the Finals.

Spurs 1-8 record vs. NBA’s best teams so far only 1 win vs the CP3 less clippers. Are they contenders of course.
Just like any other of the top 5 maybe 6 team in the west.
Only a healthy OCK is the best west team, the rest is just wide open.

  I'm a box score watcher? I probably watch more Rockets games than any other team that isn't the Warriors (cuz the hometown hero J.Lin plays for you guys)... I watched games when Marcus Morris and Patrick Patterson were alternating starts, Thomas Robinson playing like crap and get traded, I remember Jones played in that one Lakers game last year but never saw minutes again until this year, I remember the amazing win over OKC last year that took place in Houston. I saw the great OT win vs. Raps this year and the loss in Philly in OT, plus many others like the solid W vs. Blazers yesterday.

but yes, I'm a box score watcher :coleman:

Either way, without a coaching change I don't see this rockets team making the WCF, sorry. I'd guess a 2nd round exit. The talent to go to the finals is there but the team isn't quite beasting like it should.
