How much more proof do you need before realizing Westbrook is holding back Durant? He needs to go for someone that will willingly pass the ball to Durant... someone like, you know, Rajon Rondo?

Win for the Celtics
Win for the Thunder
Win for the fans

This is all good in the regular season, but Westbrook's value is seen in the playoffs. Refs more likely to swallow their whistles when physical defense is played, and we've already seen Durant chucking away as the sole offensive option won't cut it.

OKC NEEDS an elite second scoring option, not a passer.

Aren't OKC 21-4 when Westbrook plays?

No. Westbrook is 1b. to Durant 1a. on the Thunders.

KD is basically playing the Lebron on Cavs role right now...come playoff time, KD will need Westbrook if he wants to succeed. just enjoy the play he is giving us now, entertaining for the very least...and let the business end come back into play for playoff time with a healthy Westbrook and KD

Yup one guy scoring consistently 40+ a game is a viable strategy for winning the championship.

what about the possibility that durant just got better the last couple month, weeks...???

Sorry. We've seen what KD does in the playoffs without Westbrook.

Not saying this would be a good idea for OKC, but in fairness we've also all seen what Rondo tends to do in the playoffs; triple doubles damn near every game.

I think Westbrook has higher value than Rondo overall but Rondo goes beast mode every single playoffs I've seen him in. I could also see him pairing up fairly well with Durant based on each of their skill-sets.

Only problem would be if Durant god-forbid went down...then they'd be in trouble. Having Westbrook provides some "insurance" offensively (scoring) which Rondo would not.

It seemed like they needed him during the Grizzlies series in the playoffs last year :confusedshrug: .

the player who is realiable when people are allowed to actually play real defense should go??? durant wont play in a vacuum in the playoffs so u might regret sending WB away when that happens

Except of course Rondo has understandably looked like garbage since tearing his ACL.

True, and good point.

What if he were to get back to looking how he did in the 2010 playoffs though, like here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rxA1PTnpNxs

Peeps were calling him the best PG in the game at that point, and he arguably was. I'm still not over him tearing up my Cavs. Granted they lost to the Lakers in the finals but Rondo's playoff performance that year was one of the greatest of all time IMO.

-sorry for the poor vid. quality but this was the best 2010 rondo playoff mix I could find...

Rajon Rondo vs Russel Westbrook: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lFWMahRSFgQ

Westbrook obviously does a better job of general domination and scoring. He could easily be the #1 alpha dog on plenty of teams.

Rondo is/was the better "point-guard" though, and on certain teams he would be a better fit than Westbrook....if healthy of course.

It's hard to compare the two though really. Totally different strengths and play-styles.

westbrook gives the thunder an edge that no other elite team has. he literally scares opposing players.

durant is an unreal player in the midst of his best stretch ever, but he will need westbrook late in the playoffs when things get physical and personal.

lol Good one OP.
I'd be ok with OKC trading Westbrook away, but god no not to the Celtics. Don't wanna see Goatbrook goating for them :rant

Westbrook + Perkins for Rondo + Green is the only way I see it going down...

Rondo
Lamb
Durant
Green
Ibaka

Would be a hell of a small ball line up.

OKC without GOATbrook is a first round fodder. Durant gets regularly exposed in the playoffs as a bad stats/impact ratio player and they need somebody to take up the mantle

DMAVS41

Just no.

Maybe with a great coach and good system...etc. Rondo could be a better fit, but in the Brooks "no system"...just rely on superstar offense....Westbrook is absolutely necessary for the success of the Thunder.

No.
Durant one man show works well in the RS but come playoff time it won't work. Thunder has no other reliable scorer, in a seven game series teams would ajust their defenses in order to contain Durant and there would be no one to bail him out.

:facepalm OKC was ****ing on the league with Russ this season. They were like 21-4. KD's been a monster with Westbrook out, but to act like Westbrook was holding them back is just stupid.

While every other team in the league is trying to build around 2 or 3 top level players this moron think OKC should try it with one :lol

He holds Durant's stats back, but not OKC.... Durant without Westbrook is like Lebron with 06 Cavs or Kobe with 06 Lakers or Wade with 07 Miami or something, nice stats, offensive freedom, fun and all... but his team will eventually get exposed and lose....

Westbrook is a top 5-7 scorer in the NBA.

He's the most athletic player in the NBA not named LeBron.

He's a beast on-ball defender.

He creates more space for Durant because other teams need to respect his ability to drive, shoot, and create plays.

With Westbrook out, teams are constantly doubling KD.

OKC needs Westbrook to win a Championship.

Two scenarios that work for both teams is

Westbrook for cp3

Westbrook and ibaka for Rubio and love

Yes, best record in the NBA at the time and they looked better than at any other point in the Durant/Westbrook era...that includes 2012. Anyone that thinks Westbrook needs to go now based on this 15 game stretch from Durant is a moron. Westbrook is exactly what OKC needs to compete for a championship.

Westbrook allows KD to be the guy in the 4th quarter. In theory this should have Durant more fresh for the playoffs. Its always good to have a Westbrook that can take off the scoring pressure. This is part of the reason Love isnt that successful in the 4th he has to do so much for 3 quarters.

CP3 is the only PG im taking over Westbrook for this OKC team as constructed.............Westbrook is a very overrated defender (OKC has played its best defense in years with him out since he is known as one of the biggest gamblers, constantly loses his man, doesnt get back on defense etc) but his impact on offense for the role players is important
