Man I miss TMac. I can't believe he's younger than Kobe yet his career as a superstar was over around 6-7 years ago.

Kevin is currently doing something Kobe never could. He is dominant AND efficient.

Kobe was dominant, but not efficient. Never shot over 50%
LeBron was efficient, but not dominant. Never scored over 35ppg

T-Mac doesn't belong in this conversation, he isnt an ATG.

Also you need to take into consideration that Kobe was on a bad team so he wasn't concerned about winning, he was only about putting up stats.

KD has a fellow All NBA player on his squad, which is why we have never seen his TRUE scoring potential, which we are seeing now. He has been freed from his cage. Kevin can score big and win, something Kobe simply couldn't.

Don't you guys think we've had enough threads with the name "Kevin Durant" in the title? :confusedshrug:

This could turn into a great discussion and everything, but come on guys.

To a casual fan, it's easy to see how Kobe stands out because the raw numbers are on his side, but then you dwell into certain aspects like how good his character is, what he watches on TV, his vertical, hand-size and other parameters and you'll see he's barely better than Rose was. It's the reality of the situation, unfortunately.

He also doesn't meet the eye test in that my eyes tell me he's no good.

You don't know how much I miss having TMac is Houston. Sure we weren't successful in the playoffs with him but he was great to have. Special player who's career was cut short because of injuries

Kobe once said, if anyone ever scores 30 or more points on 50/40/88 shooting then he is on another level than me.

Kobe averaged that shooting nearly 51 percent overall and 41.3 percent from deep.

Yes, but you do know dominating your opponents beat efficiency all day.

Efficiency is a Toyota Prius.

The highest Kobe ever shot was 46%

Unless you're talking about his percentage in just a single meaningless STRETCH of a season.

Kobe is a great player, he had unbelievable hot stretches but he could never maintain it for a whole season like Durant will this year.

If I want someone to score 81 points in a win over the Raptors give me the Mamba.

If I want someone who can average 30 ppg on 50/40/90 I'll take Durant

I was looking for similar streaks, and found one that really surprised me:

Amare Stoudemire had a 9 game 30+ streak where he averaged 34/11 on 59% FG, and that's not during his Phoenix days, that's as a Knick, in 2010!

It's crazy how quickly he has declined.

No sign of shot attempts or efficiency.

Exactly and at the tie there was probably those saying he was better than Kobe and U see how that turned out.. People need to relax on Durant and let him win a SHIP and play like this for a couple years straight before all the torch passing and best player nonsense talk.

And quit being so ****ing retarded. Kobe has always been an effective scorer. It's not about the FG% in itself (although 45-47% IS NOT BAD), but true shooting percentage. Compare this with other guards throughout history (and take into account volume, where they are taken from) and you'll come to the understanding that he stands up very well. Kobe is top 10 all time, and Durant isn't even close to being there yet. He has the potential, but he needs to win several rings before that discussion can start. Talk about premature.
