My pick will be between 2012 Dwyane Wade and 2000 Kobe Bryant and 1992 Scottie Pippen.

Who's the greatest sidekick in NBA history?

I will go as far as to say MJ would not have 6 rings if it weren't for Pippen. No Pippen, 4-5 rings at best.

This.

I still think Prime Pippen was better than 2011 LeBron though. Pippen wasn't a choker.

So the answer is Kobe Bryant.

Yeah, he made a clutch shot in the championship, but James Worthy was a beast and better that year, and was named MVP of the final.

Well, Kobe and Wade were alphas for at least like half of their career. So this gets a little tricky.

Single Season Sidekick:

2001 Kobe
2002 Kobe
2012 Wade
2000 Kobe
2010 Gasol
2009 Gasol
'92 Pippen
'91 Pippen
'93 Pippen
'96 Pippen
2013 Wade
'97 Pippen
'98 Pippen

Career Sidekick:

1) Pippen
2) Gasol

Were the supreme definition of Beta, supplemental players.

Got it. My next question is in what way is Gasol over Pippen?

Also, in another thread (the one about ranking players in tiers), you put Kevin Mchale in your second and Scottie Pippen in your third, was this an oversight?

Where did I rank Gasol over Pippen? I have a clear ranking of Pippen over Gasol. As for the individual sidekick season runs ... The first three were ranked in order. The rest was pick 'em.

Quote me, and show me. Because I know I've never, nor would I consider McHale to be better than Scottie.

What's with your blatant insecurity about Pippen, or specially where I rank him? Once again find the post and quote it please.

If Kobe is the greatest sidekick of all time then he's the greatest player ever.

How many sidekicks you know are top 5 greatest player of all time?

If he's a sidekick like his detractors say he is, imagine if he wasn't one, he would be winning rings. Oh wait, he has won rings. Now imagine if he was full time leader? GOAT.

My bad. You did summarize that Gasol was number two to Pip at the end.

It's not an insecurity. Im more trying to see some consistency. And passing on my opinion

I constantly see you in the same type of threads. Often responding to a post I directed to someone else. Does that make you insecure?

Have to go with Pippen. He embraced the role of sidekick so much he begged MJ to come back and lead the team after MJ's first retirement. And that's after having a break out year individually in 93/94. MJ's retirement speech says it all when some of the first words out of his mouth was 'You didn't just see me, you saw Scottie Pippen. For each championship we won'. Pippen chose MJ to induct him in the HOF and spent the first couple minutes thanking him. That's true big brother little brother. It ain't even comparable to Kobe and Shaq. Both thought they were the leader.

Pippen, Wade, Kobe

Wade's championship rate as a sidekick is pretty nice at just under 50% right now. Also gets extra points for versatility (young sidekick to a big man, then veteran sidekick to a wing player)

I use math and numbers which don't lie. While Kobetards are spewing nonsense.:lol

True beta is the one and only Kobe Bryant who rode Shaq to his first 3 rings and had PRIME Gasol for his last 2. He shouldn't even have 2 FMVP, 1 of them belongs to Gasol.
