racism against asians isnt that big a deal in america.

I am not sure why, but I would guess:

1. Resentment that china and asia is increasing in global importance
2. Asians are only like 4.8% of the population and they arent very politically organized. Eg. they dont have something like the NAACP or AIPAC or GLAAD
3. there are really zero asian american political/cultural leaders that could make a big deal out of something like this.
4. Asians choose careers in the sciences, small business entrepreneurship and engineering and arent present in the media.

Asians and blacks have had different experiences in America. The wounds of Jim Crow are still relatively fresh when you compare the length of time that has passed to the length of time blacks were systematically oppressed in society. So, whenever racism towards blacks creeps up, it makes blacks question the promise America made for equal opportunity. Questioning whether there isn't still some underlying desire for discrimination in every facet of life which still prevents blacks from getting a fair shot.

Not really. They are hardworking and honest people. Some of the older generation who are straight immigrants may be a bit racist and curse you out in their language but that's something all immigrants really do.

No one had it as bad as black people (well arguably native americans, I mean at least black people were genocided to the point that they are less than 1% of the current population), but regardless I think people don't appreciate that chattel slavery that people of african decent was subjected to in the atlantic slave trade and the arab slave trade, was significantly different from most other forms of slavery.

Eg. in the roman empire many slaves were taught to read and got positions as scribes and even tutors. Positions like that were never available to african slaves because of the belief that they were unintelligent. In china you could legitimately argue that being a really powerful persons slave, such as the eunuch of an imperial court, was in some ways better than being a free, poor peasant.

In america Irish people came over as indentured labors but it was much easier to work your way of that than if they were african slaves. Also their kids wouldnt automatically become slaves.

Chinese men were recruited in china to build the railways, especially the western portion. they recruiters flat out lied to them. Once they got to america they found out that the actual pay, was often a fraction of what was promised. Further they would not be paid until the project was complete and all of their living expenses would be deducted from their wages. Often the result was that they were too poor to leave after the railway was done. There was also the government imposed limits on asian immigration, the head tax, etc.

Nobody who is educated about American history thinks that black people were the only people discriminated against, but obviously (with the possible exception of native americans) they had it the worst (or 2nd worst). Still that doesnt give Dockett free reign to be racist against other ethnicities imo. Nor does it mean only black people are subject to discrimination or that discrimination against other groups is acceptable.
