View Full Version : Lebron inconsistant plaffoff and finals performances mean he will never be a GOATtier

It is all in the title. After seeing Lebron the widely lauded best player in the world self destruct in 3 of the 7 games of the finals against Timmy and the Spurs last year and the subsequent miracle involving Ray Allen in game 6 I have come to the conclusion Lebron will never challenge Kobe, let alone Jordon if he can't bring it consistently. People talk about the Celtics series game 6, and game 7 of the finals last year as proof of his greatness, but really the occasional great game doesn't make up for all the games he should of won had he showed up.

Kobe choked in a game 7... 6-24 in the finals. Kobe's inconsistency ruins his legacy, but he's still top 20.

i dont need a particular stat or accolade to know lebron is a tier below the leagues all time greats, ive seen him come short and disappear way too many times, no1 denies his talent, but talent alone doesn't get you in that top tier, you need that champion heart

He had to have that to balance out

2007: 22/7/7 and 6tos a game on 35/20/69 shooting, outplayed by Manu
2011: 17/7/7 and 4tos a game on 47/32/60 shooting, outplayed by Terry

There will be plenty of more 2012/2013 level finals from Lebron. You won't be happy.

2007 is an accomplishment. That team should have never been near the finals. They were awful. 2011 was their first year together. Most teams don't make the finals their first year.

Lebron has never lost in the first round before. Jordan has lost 3 times in the first round before.

:facepalm at the very common notion that LeBron choked for the first half of the spurs series. he literally had one bad game, and that was game 3 in which the spurs shot 300% from 3 ... every Miami player had a bad game that night.

do not mistake scoring < 20 points for a bad game. example - LeBron had 18/18/10 in game 1 (a loss) in which parker made a few wild shots to steal the game. 18/18/10 is a very good game.

i think kobe's performance in the 2004 finals was awful, and i think LeBron's performance in the 2011 finals was awful. i think they both played excellent in the playoffs those years though, and my post was directed at haters in general, not haters of either player specifically.
