Terrence Ross? Really? Dude averages 9 PPG on the season and he goes off for 51? :biggums:
Is it 2006 all over again? Stern give his final orders to refs to let wing players go wild?

This was already known. But seems like since the new year it's gotten out of control. Scrubs with 7 PPG career averages are going for 50+ and franchise records?
That's 2 franchise scoring records tied or broken in back to back nights. The second being TERRENCE ROSS.
Something's up :lol

This run and gun era of basketball where players have the green light to throw up threes to their hearts consent is the reason.

But this comes a night after Melo goes for 62 and other guys have monster scoring nights. Durant has been going nuts the past few weeks. Not like it's an isolated occurrence.
Plus, I can't stress this enough... it's TERRENCE ROSS.

Inspired by KD. It happens when the best player in the league is a scoring specialist. Unlike the previous season 2012 - 2013, they're bored because the best player back then is a passing specialist.
Scoring > Passing in terms of entertainment and inspiration.

Also gives credit to what Kobe said earlier this week.
The league is weaker and it's making guys who usually wouldn't come close to this type of production go off.

Go back in history I'm sure you would see scrubs going off once in a while. This is nothing like 06 the league/refs is way more chilled then 06 and allow more contact.

Terrence Ross is mostly known as a defensive specialist and spot up 3 point shooter. He's locked up guys like Paul George (twice) and Kevin Durant this season.
But his potential in scoring has always been there. He had the hot hand tonight and the Raptors lost their leading scorer a couple minutes into the 3rd after his ankle swelled up again. Off course, I didn't think he would this hot from the field, but here's hoping we can see more dominance in the future.

Refs have nothing to do with this, there have just been some players who are hot right now, like Gilbert,Iverson,Melo,Kobe and Lebron in 06. This is not comparable to that era in terms of volume scoring.
I do hope this keeps up, this league needs more scoring at times.

The disparity between their rebounding is vast. If Kareem is doing 12, Wilt is doing 20, at least.

Well, I did more research and there's tons of random players that have scored 50+ points. Phil Chenier, Freeman Williams, Vernon Maxwell, Chris Jackson, Nick Anderson, Willie Burton, Charles Smith, Dana Barros.
A guy like Tony Delk never averaged more than 12ppg in a season. At least Terrence Ross might average more than that in the future, since he's a 2nd year former lottery pick who literally plays the same position as the Raptors' best player, and only recently became a starter. It's not like Kendrick friggin' Perkins is putting up 50.

I blame our weak liberal, pc society on the weak defenses. our society doesn't breed enough tough, weathered men. that's why you see a bunch of weak defenses in the NBA and NFL, not enough real men anymore, all of bunch of entitled whiny little girls.

Hmmm, so players like MJ, Hakeem, and Shaq would be at best, somewhere around 10-20 pp scorers then today. Who would have ever thought this era of basketball players were light years better than those that played a few years ago? Yep, makes perfect sense now...
