Nothing new, Ukraine is stuck in the middle of nowhere between Europe and Russia, the government wanted to associate with Russia and people went on to protest to seek EU affiliation. I got a friend that her mother is from Ukraine, she was there last summer and told that the country is basically 20 years behind average eu country (holy shit). Anyway i dont believe either option will improve their lives in the short run.

You can drive from Bulgaria to the Ukraine in 9 hours.

It was never about EU or Russia, it's about ending corruption and getting Yanukovich out of power. I wish them the best, although my views are pessimistic especially after the Orange Revolution...

My point being if the Ukraine is in the middle of nowhere, then Bulgaria is pretty close to the middle.

Things doesnt work that in Eastern Europe, theres no ending to corruption, after the corrupted ones in power are gone, the new ones with the big promises come and get corrupted. In U.S. corruption is legal though, the president elections campaign that receives the most donations win.

Just not a particularly evolved society.

Yeah, that's kind of why we left. Ukraine already had protests to get Yanukovich out, and they successfully did. Then next term he gets reelected again, and now here are the protests to get him out again. It's pretty ridiculous.

Unfortunately not everyone has the privilege to be born with a silver spoon up their ass. Pretty sure if this "evolved society" ever had to live without technology and grocery stores, half of the population would die out in a week.
