Society will collapse when something on a global scale goes wrong.

Possibilities:

-WW3 leading to a nuclear exchange
-Global warming causing huge food shortage
-Some kind of global pandemic

When we can no longer keep the Barbarian hordes out.

But seriously, like someone pointed out above- plenty of societies around the world have collapsed/are collapsing as we speak. Just look at the Middle East. Even the Ukraine is experiencing some widespread upheaval.

Which society is this?

Im assuming the States correct?

Once the States go the rest of the world will follow (well either them or China).

When?

Nick Young said 40 years, I think we're closer to that. F*ck with what people 'want' the most and you'll see some shit go down. Yeah, I said what people 'want' and not 'need'. If you raise people's electricity bill, they'll keep paying. Take away their toys and you'll see shit go down.

it doesn't seem like it's been talked about here, but the high-smog days over major chinese cities is getting absolutely brutal. as in, painter's masks are not good enough anymore... you need a gas mask to be safe from the acid smog, else risk lung damage and carcinogen intake.

china has an awful record on safety guidelines and enforcement, too, so it's hard to be terribly optimistic about the future of that.

the problem is that many of the areas hit basically make all the goods and tech stuff that we take for granted, available at the low prices that we prefer.

another problem is that, just like europe, the USA, and some other countries / markets, if one collapses then it will likely lead to a global depression... possibly even worse than that.

it's a very high stakes game.

When the politics is all sorted out, the societies are going to go back to things very similar to what they are today. The ways the people make money will not change, agriculture will not change, etc.

Before and after the American revolution, you didn't have much of societal change.

Societal changes will be things like there's no more oil or water.
