Or can he get even better? I mean, let's be real here, if this is not his peak, what in the universe is happening?

This is not a career thread so slow down with accolades and team record or any of that stuff.

We talking about peak.

He's 25, and many players peak around 27. It's a legitimate question as to whether we are witnessing his Prime or Peak.

31/8/5 on 50% with 64 TS% are not his normal numbers, genius.

The only reason he's scoring this much is Westbrook is out

On a bad team? 33/8/6 67 TS% 32 PER aren't out of the question for Durant. I'm sure he could gun for 40 ppg if he really chose to

And no, he's not at his peak. He's in the very early stages of his prime.

But Westbrook will be a detriment. He can't score like this with Russell alongside.

Skills and feel for the game generally plateau at the age of 28-32. Durant has a solid 3-5 years of development before he peaks in that regard.

Production-wise it's all dependent on circumstances, right now he has to carry his team with WB down and so far has far exceeded expectations, in particular shooting % and clutch makes given opponents focus on him defensively. Be interesting to see if he can keep it up once WB comes back.

Point is, you can't use age to determine anything. It's more about how much more his game can improve, not age.

That was funny, though. :oldlol:

There's other facets of his game he can improve on besides scoring (which he's still improving on)...and okc is better with Westbrook

He's improving upon because Westbrook is out and KD is forced to take more shots. But he's failing to shoot even close to the consistency of Lebron.

Since December 1
Durant 32.8 ppg 66.5 TS%
LeBron 25.9 ppg 64.2 TS%

lol i see your point and agree with it for the most part. he's gotten noticeably better ever year since he entered the league though, so until i see a plateau in his game im gonna give him the benefit of the doubt

You might have to give up your love for big men if Durant keeps it up.

It's probably going to be his stats peak due to Westbrook's absence.

His real peak in terms of level of play should come in 2 or 3 years (possibly coinciding with championship years). The stats may look less impressive on paper (no longer 30+ ppg), but he'll be even more well-rounded with a superior mental approach to the game.

His points are up due to Westbrook's absence. How do people not understand this?

I'll bite on your shitty trolling...

His points might be up, but his efficiency has not decreased. In fact, it's as good as it's ever been even when he was scoring just 28 PPG.

it can be reversed. He was scoring less because Westbrook was playing too. this formulation favors Durant.

Statistically i dont think Durant will get much better than what he is at the moment. He might become a better player through defense, help defense, rotations etc..

I would love to see KD team up with Anthony Davis in like 3 years, imagine that...

Remember though, a player is always one serious injury away from decline (Derrick) Durant so far has been durable as they come, just as has Lebron has been. Thats one of the marvels of LBJ, for someone so athletically active and producing so much force, he is able to keep healthy the whole season + Playoffs. Wouldn't doubt generous amounts of Human Growth Hormone Lebron uses would play a big part in his durability.

Bush4Ever
01-28-2014, 03:08 PM
In terms of scoring volume+scoring efficiency it is unlikely he will get much better. Cap effects and all that.

The significant improvements to his game will be on the margins in the non-scoring parts of the game, if he does improve.

Numbers wise this might be his best season...in terms of a basketball player he will improve, which is scary.

In terms of numbers and stats yes. Durant about 2-3 years away from his peak, I expect him to improve his game in other areas over that time period.
