Never liked friends, it was too cute.............. "2 guys and a girl" was more my kind of humor
andgar923
01-29-2014, 01:52 PM
It's not the greatest thing ever and the relationship aspect is always corny, but Chandler's sarcastic wit and the childlike nature of Ross carry the show. It's a nostalgia thing for me.
For instance, HIMYM is almost a blatant rehash of Friends and I can't stand a second of it.
Friends was retardedly successful to the point they keep trying to recreate it. Almost all relationship heavy laugh track sitcoms that have come out since owe their entire formula to Friends.
Laugh tracks as a whole need to be done away with. It's campy at this point.
It was cheap, lazy, and filled with un-witty/clever writing, bad directing and horrible comedic acting by some of the actors (not sure if I blame them or the director/s). The only one that gave me a chuckle and had great delivery and timing was Kudrow. Specially disliked Blanc's bad delivery and timing, the rest were meh, none comedic actors per se. Even if they were, the writing was simply lame dude. You could see the unoriginal lazy setups a mile away, it was a very safe and by the numbers. King of Queens seems edgy and witty in comparison and that show is lame.

Plus they made him dumber every single episode to the point he became mildly retarded.
yeah it was weird seeing joey just a fat, food obsessed slob the later seasons of the show.
but yeah, mathew perry was the bright spot of the show in my opinion. but when i was a kid, it was seeing jennifer anistons tits through her shirt all time

I agree with the top. Chandler was way better as bachelor. Then he got married and became a fat p*ssy. He still had his moments but he became a neutered dog.
Joey tried too hard doe
Plus they made him dumber every single episode to the point he became mildly retarded.
I think Matthew Perry had some drug issues, thats why he looked a total mess. Don't quote me on that though lol. Monica definitely neutered him, as a bachelor he was great.
Joey was really dumb, but he was loyal as hell. I thought he was funny throughout. Homer Simpson got dumber too after the 1st season :oldlol: Ross was unbearable when he was getting into his divorces over and over, although his fights with Rachel were epic. WE WERE ON A BREAK!!!!!!!
Friends was aimed towards women, so no surprises there.

Meh, I don't know nor care about her character. Didn't watch the show with any interest at all. Kudrow just appeared to be the only one with any sort of comedic chops, and that's because she was the only one with comedic background.
So perhaps her character sucked.
But she was the best comedic actor there. So Im not off on my analysis on a shitty show which I was forced to endure.

The show took place in one of the most multi-cultural cities in the world, but we rarely saw any ethnics on the show. Plus the characters seemed to hang out with no one except their group of six.

It's amazing that Tom Selleck was already older in the 90's in those pics and yet presently in 2014 not even close to looking like the worst of the people who were on that show.
For a Hollywood actor he must've lived one of the cleanest lives ever.
Also personally didn't like or dislike the show. At the time my girlfriend was Italian American and loved that show, she used to come over my place and turn it on and tried to make me watch it, I would literally look at that show and her like :biggums:

What does ur ex girlfriend being Italian American have to do with her being a watcher of Friends?
Cultural thing, many of the black females I knew or hung out with at the time didn't watch the show on a regular basis, my ex watched it religiously.
The humor wasn't the type of humor that completely crossed color lines all the time (not that a sitcom needs or has to), the cast, their hangout spots on the show, and some of the struggles they went thru didn't as well.
This show came out in the 90's when "being black" (so to say) on TV was just starting to be acceptable on a social level by the majority and mostly due to the Hip Hop explosion of the 90's which was also supported by suburban Caucasian kids.
They watched shows like "Living Single" (which my ex used to also watch at times which btw I also thought was not a good show) but the point remains, Friends was catered to a broader Caucasian audience whereas the "rip-off show" Living Single" was not but the premise of both shows were kinda reflective of society and the audience it was intended for.
TV and music usually go hand in hand with the themes of American society at the time.
There... articulated version of my initial "my ex was Italian" post.
