Sans Westbrook and Wade, since both are hurt
Let's just look at how stacked OKC is vs Miami
PER 36 stats. For defense, +means they're higher than team average DRTG(OKC's better with them off the court). - means they're lower than team average DRTG(team is better with them on the court). 0 means they have no impact on defense
OKC sans Westbrook
Jackson 17.6/5.0/5.3 52.8 TS% 16.2 PER +2 DRTG
Sefolosha 8.8/5.2/1.7 51.3 TS% 10.0 PER +1 DRTG
Ibaka 16.3/9.8/2.9 BLK 56.6 TS% 18.9 PER -3 DRTG
Perkins 6.4/8.8/.9 BLK 47.0 TS% 6.5 PER 0 DRTG
Lamb 16.4/4.6/2.6 53.4 TS% 14.7 PER +2 DRTG
Collison 9.6/7.2/2.6 60.0 TS% 12.4 PER +2 DRTG
Fisher 9.6/2.7/3.0 50.2 TS% 8.2 PER +3 DRTG
Adams 9.0/11.0/1.8 BLK 53.6 TS% 12.8 PER -2 DRTG
Jones 11.0/5.5/1.1 58.5 TS% 12.5 PER +1 DRTG
Miami
Chalmers 12.0/3.5/6.3 58.5 TS% 15.0 PER -1 DRTG
Battier 7.9/3.4/1.2 57.0 TS% 9.5 PER +2 DRTG
Bosh 19.9/8.2/1.6 61.3 TS% 20.6 PER -1 DRTG
Allen 12.8/4.2/3.0 57.7 TS% 12.7 PER +2 DRTG
Cole 10.8/3.5/4.7 54.8 TS% 11.0 PER +2 DRTG
Oden 14.6/8.6/2.6 BLK 48.5 TS% 15.3 PER 0 DRTG
Beasley 19.9/8.2/1.6 57.2 TS% 17.2 PER -1 DRTG
Anderson 12.7/8.7/2.2 BLK 68.9 TS% 17.6 PER -2 DRTG
Yes, clearly OKC is the team that is stacked
OKC's center, who plays 20 minutes per game, is DEAD LAST in the NBA in PER. That's not out of starting center's, that's out of EVERY center. Dead last. And Perkins is a net 0 on defense.
Sefolosha, OKC's starting SG, is ranked 3rd to last among all starting SG's in the NBA. Only Kirk Hinrich and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope have been worse. And the Thunder are better as a defense with him off the floor.
Jackson scores at way below average efficiency and is the worst defender on the team that gets big minutes aside from Fisher
Ibaka is an elite defender, but he can do nothing but spot up shoot, he's assisted on 80% of his shots.
Jones is actually very promising, but he only plays 10~ minutes per game
Adams is a hell of rookie, but he's still very limited offensively and can't stay on the floor due to foul trouble.
Collison is an elite defender, but he can't protect the rim and can't create his own offense.
Lamb scores at average efficiency, and can create his own offense. He's a above average backup SG albeit he plays poor defense
Derrick Fisher is the worst player in the NBA, excluding Kendrick Perkins. He is also has the LOWEST PER in the NBA for ANY SG averaging 15 MPG.
of all 240 players that have played in at least 30 games this year and average at least 15 mpg
Perkins ranks 238, meaning he's the 3rd worst player in the league
Fisher ranks 235, meaning he's the 6th worst player in the NBA
Sefolosha ranks 215, meaning he's the 26th worst player in the NBA
Summary: There can be a legitimate argument made that the Thunder have the worst starting SG, worst starting C, and worst backup PG(Fisher) in the entire fvcking league. Lamb is a nice backup SG with lots of promise, but he's still young. Ibaka's an elite defender who can't create his own shot. Jackson is a decent PG but inefficient and can't play defense. Collison is a great role player, but he's just that. A role player. Jones barely plays. Adams is a rookie with no offensive skillset. Derrick Fisher.
Going top to bottom of best players
PG: Chalmers=Jackson
backup PG: Cole>>>>Fisher
SG: Allen>>>Sefolosha
backup SG: Mason JR<<<<Lamb
backup SF: Beasley>>Jones III
PF: Bosh>Ibaka
backup PF: Anderson<Collison
Backup C: Oden=Adams
I'll exclude Battier and Perkins, because Miami plays no true starting C and Durant plays SF for OKC, LeBron plays PF for Miami. But Battier>Perkins anyway
Let's go even further
Note: NET +/- doesn't indicate who is the better player, just who is helping the team more at their current volume. I.E. Chalmers being ahead of Westbrook is CLEARLY because of his volume and role. But as a team, it puts things into perspective as roles across positions are general equal. For instance Lamb's role on OKC, is roughly equal to Chalmers on OKC.
Westbrook scores .87 PPP, he allows .81 PPP: +.06 NET
Perkins allows .8 PPP, he scores .67 PPP: -.13 NET
Ibaka scores 1.0 PPP, he allows .89 PPP: +.11 NET
Jackson scores .89 PPP, he allows .89 PPP: +0 NET
Sefolosha scores .88 PPP, he allows .97 PPP: -.08 NET
Lamb scores 1.0 PPP, he allows .94 PPP: +.06 NET
Adams scores .82 PPP, he allows .99 PPP: -.17 NET
Fisher scores .88 PPP, he allows .9 PPP: -.02 NET
Collison scores .99 PPP, he allows .82 PPP: +.17 NET
Team NET: +0
Durant scores 1.11 PPP, he allows .79 PPP: +.32 NET
Chalmers scores .93 PPP, he allows .75 PPP: +.18 NET
Wade scores .97 PPP, he allows .88 PPP: +.09 NET
Battier scores .87 PPP, he allows .96 PPP: -.09 NET
Bosh scores 1.11 PPP, he allows .88 PPP: +.23 NET
Allen scores .98 PPP, he allows .95 PPP: +.03 NET
Beasley .92 PPP, he allows .79 PPP: +.13 NET
Cole .98 PPP, he allows .95 PPP: +.03 NET
Beasley scores .99 PPP, he allows .89: Net +.10
Andersen 1.16 PPP, he allows .84 PPP: +.24 NET
Team NET: +.94
LeBron 1.11 PPP, he allows .86 PPP: +.25 NET
Summary: Taking out rebounding, Miami absolutely shits on OKC. OKC's primary advantage is the fact that they're the best rebounding team in the league. Well that and Durant being able to put up an absurd +.32 NET while maintaining the highest volume in the NBA.

God pls don't give me any stats comparing wade and Westbrook. Westbrook opens up so much offense for the thunder while wade doesn't do shit in the half court.

Perkins hold opponents to 36% at the rim...
Serge is the best shotblocker in the league...
Their defense is 2nd in the NBA with huge credit due to that elitefrontcourt defense and rebounding.. plus sefolosha is their best perimeter defender and draws tough matchups on top scorers.
:lol @ you usin PER to describe his help when they are elite in 2/3 categories defense and rebounding of which PER doesnt describe in full at all..
Reggie is also a better player than any perimeter player on the Heat outside of Wade.. Westbrook when hes back is the better second option of the two.
Not sayin Miami's not stacked because they clearly are.. but OKC with a healthy westbrook is just as if not more stacked than them.

Bro, basketball isn't solely based on statistics. This is one of the times stats let you down, because any stat that tells me a team is better without Westbrook than with is complete shit. Heat are only stacked if Wade plays every game in the playoffs. 2013 Heat weren't stacked in the playoffs since Bosh/wade had injuries. Hell, 2011 was the most stacked Heat team. Wade was in his prime, but Bron choked.

Honestly, if we traded away Haslem and Mason Jr, I'd be happy enough with the team. Even though we are way too small, and now slow due to age. We need to get bigger since we can't play that same defense with the same efficiency anymore.

I really wonder if some of you have actually watched the Heat this year and don't just look at the box scores and the roster.
I actually haven't watched many heat games this year, but the games that I have watched they're still playing great perimeter defense which leads to a lot of fast break points. Bosh is really stepping up into that 2nd option role this year and he's looked really good. How has Miami looked with Wade? From the games I did see, Wade wasn't doing much in the half court setting. His drives aren't as effective as before and nobody is biting on his pump fakes. Too often is he just driving into the lane and kicking the ball out for a 3 which is sometimes contested.

The Heat's problem has been their defense. It's a combination of age and fatigue from 3 straight Finals. Because they are so small, they have to be excellent on their rotations and play with a lot of energy. They haven't had this energy for most of the games, and teams have exploited their defense. This causes them to be a half court team, and Miami isn't the best half court team when the tempo is slower, and they are obviously elite when they are out there running and turning turnovers into points. The roster is flawed and has problems this year, but it's enough to win a championship. It's all about getting past the Pacers.
Wade is shooting a high percentage when he actually plays and his defense is missed. They are a better team with him.

Wade is the difference this season mainly due to the fact hes one of the few playing defense and causing turnovers leading to fast breaks. Allen doesn't have it in him anymore, Chalmers has been shocking this season, no matter what stats tell me. Cole has been better, but is still inconsistent, and our only consistent bench performer, Beasley, doesn't get enough minutes at times.

Agreed. I wonder if I'm watching the same team as other people on here, but it's still good enough to win a title.

Oh, I don't doubt Miami can still win it all this year. I was just wandering how they've looked for most of the season since I haven't been watching them as much as I would like to.

LOL at OP and his novel! Just because you make a super long post that most people don't have time to read doesn't mean you have any good points. The Thunder are hands down the most stacked team of the last decade, especially when you consider how young they are and the fact that they have a seemingly unlimited title window!
If the Heat are so stacked why were they the Vegas underdogs in the 2012 finals? The experts all agree, the Thunder are more stacked than the Heat. Deal with it.
