Probably just a work.

So before the first time he can sign a really big deal he leaves? That's really smart for a business that is short term to leave like this.

I hope it's just a work. CM Punk said in some of his interviews that he wants to rest up his injuries. And CM Punk is also working hurt.

UPDATE: Dave Meltzer is now reporting that people in the company did not expect Punk to sign again in July due to injuries and being burnt out and were of the mind that he would be gone. The expectation now is that Punk will not be returning. Of course this could always change if Punk decides he wants to work.

We'll see where it goes from here.

This is huge for the wrestling community. Punk will generate a buzz with whatever he does, RAW will be in Chicago soon (Punks home town) so that should be interesting.

Will be interesting to see how they handle this on RAW, Punks presence is too much you can't just ignore him not being there anymore.

Punk is what got me back into wrestling, so for me this is really sad

It's not a work, I'm 98% sure.

If you've been listening to his recent interviews you can tell he's burnt out. He's known for complaining about part timers coming in to take big spots, he reportedly was pissed that Batista who isn't even in ring shape yet is somehow thrown into the WM main event.

WWE stopped following Punk on twitter as well..

By Mike Johnson on 2014-01-29 15:33:58

WWE stopped following CM Punk on Twitter this afternoon. Considering they follow a number of discarded characters (Dr. Shelby) and WWE NXT talents who have since been released, that should tell you all you need to know.

In regard to the TMZ.com report that Batista was the reason Punk walked out, we are told by WWE sources that it was nothing to do with Batista personally and it wasn't him that caused the decision. It was more a collection of issues including burnout, injuries, a difference in what the company saw as a big push for Punk and what he felt was one (specifically working Triple H at Wrestlemania), and just an overall frustration with how he was perceived overall. It was not a case of Batista came in, so Punk walked out we are told.

What I don't get is how the fkc does the WWE not realized what era they are in.

Fans don't care about giants and muscle meat-heads anymore. Look at all the guys people go crazy for. Bryan & Punk are getting the biggest pop but you got some good following for Cody Rhodes, Cesaro, Dolph Ziggler, the Usos and Rollins and Ambrose(even if they're part of a great stable).

Punk deserves credit for bringing in this "little man" era to the current WWE program.

And the way the fans are booing Batista clearly shows they are enjoying the little guys more now.

:applause:

WWE needs to wake up.

Compare the amount of love Daniel Bryan and Ziggler get compared to ...Curtis Axel, Alberto Del Rio or Randy Orton (the most bland wrestler in history)

The WWE is terrible. It's painful to watch how dead the crowds are the whole show except for when Bryan or Punk are involved.

It'd be like having a Lebron or Kobe on your team and making them the 6th man purely out of spite, just because the coach did not develop them himself.

They are lucky there are no real threats like WCW around, which almost put Vince and his lust for big oiled up muscle heads out of business

The latter three you mentioned don't do anything wrong in the ring. They are all great workers.

Joe Hennig's characterization in WWE is beyond fixable since Michael McGillicutty days and yet still has been badly pushed as Axel.

ADR is a total package IMO but has lost his direction since parting ways with Richardo Rodriguez.

Randy Orton is bland, yes. Guys like Hogan and Flair wrestled blandly too. Also, he has been a workhorse for years. I can't remember when Randy took a break recently.

The case the former has been concussion issues IMO, especially Ziggler.
Blame it on their booking or the writers, but yes, they're painfully boring. And for Orton I don't also mean his wrestling is bland, but his personality and mic skills are too. The only reaction he gets is from women in the crowd lusting toward him and that's it. The company has given him waaaaaaaay too much considering what he actually brings to the table.

Maybe that why KENTA Received a WWE Try out in the performance Center.

Just hire Paul Heyman as his manager, and bill him as the guy who invented/originator of the Go to Sleep Finisher.

But that's the point. They think sex appeal (Orton), ethnicity (Del Rio), and, most importantly, kid-friendliness (Cena, Mysterio, etc.) sell better than in-ring skills. They are a big corporate now so those are more important than ever.

But hey, there should be somethings that pro wrestling hipsters would buy too, right? They won't sell as well as kid stuffs but you gotta have broader audiences for a company that big.
The thing is though that the mainstream has a negative opinion of the WWE. They view it as trashy, stupid, etc (and its justifiable). But even with the WWE desperately trying to clean up their act and make it seem like the WWE is mainstream, it's just making things worse and watering down the product. Half the show now is commercials and "download the WWE APP!" or "buy this DVD" or "look at how many people are tweeting!".

Still today, you would probably get a more positive reaction from an average person (not even a wwe fan) if you talked about The Rock, Hulk Hogan, or Stone Cold Steve Austin instead of John Cena or Randy Orton. Everyone knows about Macho Man Randy Savage even though he was probably much more of a scumbag than any of the people in the ring today.

Ryback's bully gimmick was actually pretty funny. I also like Bad News Barrett.

I hope that when Goldberg returns the crowd has RYBAAAACK chants for him

Almost as gay as those who support the characters Bruce Lee played in movies, or Rocky, or the Walter White character.

What's the difference? It's all just acting. You've never enjoyed a character in your entire life, fggt?

I think the difference between characters in a movie and professional wrestlers are pretty hard to differentiate between in terms of quality so you made a great point and I take back all those things I said. Except some of the things I said about guys who really like pro wrestling.

Yeah. I can't help suspecting Punk and WWE a bit. They might try the next level of pro wrestling storyline and trying to beat social media with it.
It's all a master plan to get everybody's attention off Daniel Bryan. Vince and his agenda.
