lol I said the Nash-Dirk Mavs from ~10 years ago. In terms of offense relative to the league, they were dominant:

Nash was the PG of 6 of the top 11 offensive teams in the history of the NBA, yes.
That's worth two MVP's I'd wager.

No, it's not by points per game for that (as you can get more if you have more possessions, but it doesn't mean you're better at scoring every possession).
I'm having a hard time finding hard PPG stats for teams per season without looking at each team individually.

That would be correct.
That year:
GSW: 111 PPG
DENVER: 110.7 PPG
PHOENIX: 110.1 PPG
Offensive Domination that year.

The highest-scoring regular season game is the triple-overtime game between the Detroit Pistons and the Denver Nuggets on December 13, 1983. The two teams combined to score 370 points, with the Pistons defeating the Nuggets 186–184.

Excellent choice.
They averaged 118.4 ppg and shot an eFG% of .509, in an NBA that averaged 112.4 ppg and shot .449. Oh, and they held their opposing teams to 106.2 ppg on a .424 eFG%.
And how about their post-season numbers? They averaged 109.1 ppg on a .497 eFG%, while holding their opposition to 94.6 ppg on a .395 eFG%.
I also like the 84-85 Lakers.
118.2 ppg on a .551 eFG%, while holding their opponents to 110.9 ppg on a .485 eFG%.
And in the post-season, they averaged 126.3 ppg on an eFG% of .552, while holding their opposition to 116.2 ppg on a .478 eFG%.
