who you think will have a better decline and be more useful as he gets older and older?
From the one hand we got carmelo who is much better offensively than lebron(i know stats etc are about the same but he has a much larger arsenal)he can shoot much better than lebron
on the other hand we got lebron who trains much harder than carmelo and as a result his in much better shape and didn t have any major injury.but he lacks a solid mid range shot and a can t really score from triple threat, not like carmelo anyway

LeBron.
Carmelo has no work ethic, no winner mentality, and he's fat.
LeBron on the other hand isn't the strongest mentally, but at least he's not weak, and he looks after himself. Plus, from what I've heard, he's a disciplined worker too.

if jason kidd, who was a non shooter 75% of his prime played until 39 lebron could play until 44 and i'm not even joking. he would probably play the point at that point :). his 3p shoot is already very good and only can improve also playmaking never declines.
for his early to mid 30s i see 3 possibilities:
1. stay the same as weight and body structure and try to improve his FT and overall shooting as the athleticism keeps regresing.
2. go slim to keep his big part of his athleticism, similiar to his rookie body type, also improve overall shooting
3. go the karl malone way, bulk up and live in the post, where he is better every season. play only pf and go hard for rebounds and guard the oposite best player.
he will be a great player for many many years  op: bookmark and rep me when you can

you can't know who trains harder unless you go to the gym with them.

Lebron's frame could easily hold an extra 20-25 pounds making Lebron around 290 pounds to play full time PF (point forward) if he wanted. He would improve his FT and 3 pt shooting along with playing more off the ball (to conserve energy).

Melo will last much longer. He has that great jumpshot, which extends your career by years. He also has the footsteps and a postgame, none of which require tremendous athleticism.
Lebron on the other hand lack a consistent jumpshot. Has no postmoves, and relies on his athleticism to get layups and fastbreaks to score points. He will age fast and ugly, like Wade right now.

5 years into LeBron's decline > Melo's peak.

see how easy are these exercises for lebron and how carmelo struggles.Don t get me wrong all players in the nba are wolrd class athletes (well most of them anyway :lol ) but lebron is miles ahead than carmelo.you can see it in their body type.lebron is much bigger and lean

Melo, he's just the superior player. Once Lebrons athleticism declines he'll be no better than Tmac on the spurs. I think Melo will be a couple tiers below Kobe's 2013 season but that's still pretty good.

doesn't prove anything. James' body is bigger, Anthony's jumpshot is better.

The only difference between them is that Lebron is smart and went to join a stacked team. Otherwise they would have had exactly the same career.

how that doesn t prove anything?Lebron is a gym rat and his body will age much better(he does yoda etc)carmelo is kinda like vince carter.he relies on his talent and hasn t really worked that much.He s almost the same player when he was drafted.yeah he puts more work in defense etc but that s all

i don't think that an unstoppable jumpshot is someting that one is born with. Lebron's training is best seen in his body/physical ability whereas Anthony's in his offensive skills.

Melo has a jumper, and post game. Both of which are great for aging well. LeBron isn't really good at either of those things, but he'll still be effective in his prime.
I'll go with LeBron, if only because he's the 2nd best player on the planet.
And  at those mocking Melo's work ethic. He's shown more improvement than a ton of stars have and I've never seen anything (except for a funny, 3 minute video) that indicates he has a weak work ethic.

Nor have i.
and i'm not sure how a video or something else on the internet can be used as an objective indicator of someone's work ethic.

if a professional NBA player struggles with those core excercises, you know he's not much of a worker.
He barely improved from his sophomore season, to be fair, his rebounding is a little better, and defense a little better, both of which are more of effort things.

Um what does this prove? This was in the 2008 olympics, that was like centuries ago. Melo has matured a lot since then, you can tell he works way harder now than he did then.

This is Carmelo ez, Lebron had the first 10 years, Melo will get the next 10. He is a more gifted basketball player and doesn't rely so much on athleticism like Lebro n does

LeBron was a better player in his third year than Carmelo is now, in his prime. This comparison is a total joke.

Didn't LeBron win two MVP's and go to the Finals once, when he was with the Cavs?

it proves that melo doesn t train as much as he should.he s body is the same his skills are basically the same.he was blessed with an amazing offensive arsenal.sure he worked for it but offense its more something you have or not .its not like defense.sure you can train hard and develop but up to a point.carmelo is btw one of my favorite players but its true that he just coast based on talent alone
its hard to predict who will be more valuable in his decline cause both can/will be effective for different reasons

well the fact that he really hasn t developed is an indication.look at lebron and what he has done to his body and playstyle and look at carmelo.carmelo in his rookie season was bigger than lebron.if he had a high work ethic he would get ripped and play defense years ago.we praise that a gifted offensive player started playing defense like 9 years after he was drafted?its like when amare started taking lessons how to post.like wtf.you must learn these stuff young not when you are 28

Maybe in his Denver days you could question his work ethic and defensive effort, but at this point people only say that cuz of reputation. Melo is a different player now.

Hard to say. As their athleticism declines in their mid 30s, I'd say Carmelo will retain his game better since he plays with more finesse and has a wet jumper. Then again LeBron's passing ability is not something that will go away.
