View Full Version : Harrison Barnes is averaging 9 ppg on 40% shooting; why did you all overrate him?

All of a sudden nobody talks about how the Cavs should have drafted him.
Figures :wtf:

because he looked great last season, we could flip this and post Kyries stats and ask why cavs fans are no longer bragging about how great he is? Same thing players can have slumps when their situation changes...

Your numbers are off.
And yes they should have drafted him, but good for him that they didn't.

Dude that Cavs have ****ed up through the draft so much. So many very high picks the last few years and you still look the worst pile of shit in the nba(yes, worse then Detroit), I seriously cannot see the upside of the current roster, besides that you may have a borderline superstar in Kyrie.
no pun intended

Seems to have trouble in getting into rhythm off the bench.
I was always curious in having a starting lineup of Curry/Iggy/Barnes with Thompson off the bench. Thompson's streaky shooting would benefit them more if he were the sixth man, in my opinion.

Irving and Thompson are great but yeah they are a rebuilding team that is in need of a fresh rebuild.

He's actually averaging 10.1 ppg on 41 FG%

He's not adjusting well to coming off the bench and playing limited minutes. In the games where he's started and played extended minutes, he's actually played really well.
Barnes is a utility player; good at everything, great at nothing. You can't put him out on the court with the 2nd unit and expect him to carry the offense. He needs to be playing with the starting unit, and either Iggy or Thompson need to come off the bench.

Exactly, they have had what? two number 1 picks, and 3 top five picks the last four years and unless they can ass rape some dumb GM when they eventually trade Dion they are already in need of another rebuild. Except rebuild how? through the draft is not likely lol, their coach isnt likely to develop the young players they have let alone any new rookies.
Seriously I feel for cleveland fans.

The Warriors need both of those guys to start. Barnes is still a luxury to have coming the bench.

In other words, he's just not that good of a player. Marginal talents always need better players around them to look their best.
Can't create his own shot. Can't playmake. Can't believe he was hyped all like that.

My brother thinks Barnes is going to be better than Michael Jordan or the next MJ. Because Barnes's middle name is Jordan, he was named after him, and he went to North Carolina.

he's been overrated for quite some time. He has a big game when Tony Parker guards him and the hype continues.
Waiters always has been and always will be better than him. Barnes does not have the scoring ability nor can he create offense like Dion can. Barnes has not shown that he can take over games like Dion can.
Drummond will be better than both Waiters and Barnes but at this point it's just dumb to say Barnes > Waiters.

How many "Cavs should have drafted Barnes" posts popped up after that series?

Harrison Barnes not being good still doesn't change the fact that your team sucks at drafting. 2 number #1 picks and one of them is Anthony Bennet while the other one thought to be on a breakout has actually regressed.
not just that, but ever since Lebron left, your team has had consecutive years of having high picks.
and your team still sucks.
there's no way around this fact right now. your team is horribly managed.

I know. Cavs fans think Harrison Barnes turning out to be a scrub is somehow a consolation prize for their sorry team.

only questionable draft pick cavs have made is Bennett. Jury is still out on him IMO.
Miami bandwagon fans are lucky they had D-Wade to collude for them :oldlol: It goes without saying it's a lot easier to "manage" a team when you have three superstars in their prime versus a team made up of 21 year olds.

It's easy to make fun of us for drafting Bennett but literally everyone else in the draft is just as shitty except for Dipo who we had no use for. I wanted Drummond over Waiters but the cavs weren't the only ones not sold him for whatever reason so you can't feel too bad about that. I'm not entirely sure where this "horrible at drafting" line came from.

He doesn't care so much he wants to rub it in our faces that Barnes isn't having a spectacular year.
I guess someone didn't watch the playoffs, where Barnes outperformed all the Cavs draft picks. No wait, they didn't make the playoffs in the sh1tty east, nevermind :coleman:

Why do you seem to have an unhealthy obsession of being a Nostradamus of draft picks when it's still too early to say? Every one of your threads follow the same theme of "Everyone was wrong, but me" lmao
Waiters>Irving
MCW>Oladipo
Now Barnes?

I like how the joke of a poster PB makes this thread and the first thing people do is attack the Cavs and totally change the subject. Grant it, the Cavs made a mistake so far with Bennett and maybe the Waiters pick with Drummond turning out well. Possibly the Thompson pick. But the question was regarding Barnes.

I don't think we were wrong. I think the acquisition of Iggy has put Barnes in the back seat. He stepped up big in the playoffs last year and I don't know why that's being discounted. If he stinks it up in this year's playoffs or averages 9ppg on 40% in it feel free to re-make this thread and rub it in.
Until then I don't even understand why this topic was created. He was doing alright when he was starting, and still has lots of room to grow.
