View Full Version : Has Blake Griffin reached his ceiling?

Haven't seen much change in his game since starting in the league. We know of his athletic dunks, but why hasn't he added any new skills to his arsenal?

Is it a case of D12, live and die by athleticism.

This. Griffin has been dominating the entire league since CP went down. In his last 10 games he's averaging 26.0ppg on .541%fg...so it that is his ceiling then that is a hell of a ceiling.

Have you seen his jumper? It has improved tremendously

Obviously he's going to be more productive because he doesn't need to share the offense, just like when Westbrook went down, Durant stats went up. I 'm talking about skills, what new skills has he developed?

jumpshot and free throw shooting

Solid faceup game too. He take ppl off the dribble and drive to the basket or shoot it in their face. Still awkward with his back to the basket

He's post up game needs to develop.

He's stats overall are pretty much the same when he entered the league.

Too many cherry picking fans that only want to look at stats over a select period.

Blake was never gonna be a good post player. His arms are too short, hands too small, & he's undersized at his position.

But he is improving his ball handling skills and mid range game

He's listed 6'10 and 250, much bigger than Barkley. He's got enough size to post up. I've seen smaller guards, such as Sam Cassell with a good post up game.

Working on his 3 game too.

He has one of the most efficient post games in the NBA. Just because it's not pretty doesn't mean it's not working.

Seriously, what else is he supposed to develop? Effective in the post, great rebounder, unstoppable in transition, solid jumper, incredible ball handler and passer, not to mention has those 'okay' dunks once in a while. What else do you want out of a power forward? He's never going to be an effective blocker, his arms are too short.

And why do stats mean so much? Do you want him to put up Kevin Love #s and be on a losing team?

Blake has been freaking BEASTING it this year, everything about he's game has improved.

Lets not be simple minded and cherry pick stats. Look at his game. I got doubts on a PF without a post game winning the title.

We all know that in the playoffs, that games can come down to the wire, often in post up situations.

Okay... how are you going to qualify the quality of a post game if your'e not using stats? Which stats are we supposed to look at?

yeah look at stats, but look at them in totality. He's season ave is not much different from when he came into the league, yes he's been on a streak lately. But when you look at stats overall, they're not much change.

Also when looking at where he scores, tells us the true story. In post up situations, hes down 45% efficiency. This is well down on the best post players in the game.

If anything, he's got better in the same areas.

His stats must have been horrible before the San Antonio game from late December. Thats when something clicked in him and transformed into this new Blake.

He would easily be averaging over 25 ppg if not for horrible early start.

What? His post up % is 48 percent. 0.96 ppp. 26th best in the league.

His point totals are the same but he's become much more efficient while relegating to his role as a second option. If Blake shot as much as Love did he'd have the same # of points.

OP is a fvcking idiot and never has anything useful to contribute. This thread is a great example.

Blake took a bigger leap this year than any other in his career. Hits jumpers consistently now, can even hit long 2s of screens once in a while. He has a great handle for a PF and insane athleticism, his game is definitely evolving.

Stop posting OP. And look another idiot, MichaelCorleone is the only one in the topic siding with OP

I am not even a huge fan of Griffin, but he's having his best season in his NBA Career. He is putting up solid numbers since CP3 went down with an injury.

BG is a legitimate triple double threat everytime he steps on the court. he can improve in the future as well.

will be exposed in the post season again. only way for griffin and the clippers to improve is for doc to let the team play through him through the post but that might be asking for to much. who is he going to score on in the post consistently in the playoffs when the game slows down and they're forced into half-court sets? OKC? Portland? San Antonio? Houston? Memphis?
