Let's be real, they are not re signing Melo, if Melo decides to resign he's deciding to come back to a NYK team laced with scrubs that they can't get rid of
Amare, Felton, Smith etc..
Chandler is on a horrible contract for what he's worth to the team, an elite rim protector can set teams over the top but when you don't have a 2nd scoring option, a competent point guad, or any defensive help with 3pt shooting and no back up for that elite rim protector it's basically worthless.
Knicks are screwed, and I think that sucks, because the NYK being good and competing for titles is valuable to the NBA

While I agree with this, when was the last time they were actually contenders?

I don't understand, what changes in two years? :confusedshrug:
Team goes nowhere until Dolan is no longer in control.

Next year, If Melo leaves, they'll have around $50 million in cap space and a top-3 pick (they're not gonna be better if they tried if they lose Melo). Not that bad, really.

IMO last year, 2nd best seed in the EAST, looked like potential contenders, never had a legit 2nd option tho, only hope was that the entire team remained hot

So that makes what? 43 years?

i think Melo is going to stay mainly because its his team and NY. i also don't think the Knicks are as bad as everyone is acting right now. Felton is having a real bad year, he did well last year. so is JR but he's coming on of late...amare needs to get more run. i mean they aren't that bad imo.
i like watching them now because they got so much to prove, and i think the ability to turn it around and be good is there.

Amare & Tyson expire in 2 years, I hope they find a way of getting rid of him, maybe a team like Orlando would take a chance on him? Because lets be honest no FA are going to Orlando so might as well take a chance..right?

Why are you posting like that :lol
Also Knicks haven't been contenders anyway, at least not serious ones. They may have had the 2nd seed last season but no one thought they were gonna win it all.

they need more defense, more depth at the 4 & 5 and JR to turn into a consistent 18ppg guy for them to contend

We can miss the playoffs & he's still gonna stay.

Agreed. And I disagree that the Knicks are "screwed". However , I will agree that fixing this is gonna take the smarts that I feel the franchise is lacking. Steve Mills is gonna make or break this thing in the next 2 years.

I hear this shit all the time, but its just not true. The last time the knicks were competitive (in the late 90s) was an absolute low point in NBA popularity. Before that, you basically have to go back to the 70s.

If Chicago makes a run at him, or LA manages to sign/draft a quality player then he's long gone.

So... they need an entirely new roster and certainly need to get rid of JR Smith is what you are saying?

The NYK are definitely screwed for at least 2 more years, probably more.
Feels good to see a New York team do bad.

They'll be horrible until Jackson realizes how awful a GM he is and leaves, that probably won't be for another 3-4 years though.
They'll probably still be horrible after that too but I'll wait to see who they hire before I can say for sure.
