105............Miamis an avg defense. W/ weak fundamentals they no longer can rely on pure athleticism for their traps. Does Lebron think he really in the running for DPOY when he not even the best defender on his own team:lol

LeBron's having a shitty defensive year and has a DRtg of 105. KD's career DRtg is 105.

Of course he was serious. He's just as arrogant as any other superstar. He's just less open about it.

LeBron has two seasons with a below 100 defensive rating.

Durant has zero.

It really isn't an accurate way to gauge a players defensive prowess. LeBron has been EXTREMELY passive on the defensive end, but he has definitely been picking it up and improving tremendously. I'm not saying that he has to win DPOY or anything like that, but he still is an elite defender.

Defensive rating is meaningless for individuals please stop using it.

Durant's defense > LeBron's this year. When LeBron is locked in I'll still take him though. This year I really don't think he deserves an all-defensive team.

It's been super obvious, Leflop is declining as a defender. Durant has clearly been better on the defensive end this year, but Leflop will still get all-defensive team on name alone. Incredibly overrated.

Take the rating with a grain of salt.. in the end even though it's been tweaked it's still very much a team stat

Dean Oliver the creator of the stat himself says

[I]Out of necessity (owing to a lack of defensive data in the basic boxscore), individual Defensive Ratings are heavily influenced by the team's defensive efficiency. They assume that all teammates are equally good (per minute) at forcing non-steal turnovers and non-block misses, as well as assuming that all teammates face the same number of total possessions per minute.

Perhaps as a byproduct, big men tend to have the best Defensive Ratings (although Oliver notes that history's best defensive teams were generally anchored by dominant defensive big men, suggesting that those types of players are the most important to a team's defensive success). A corollary to this is that excellent perimeter defenders who don't steal the ball a lot

He's not declining. He's just been lazy on defense.

The only reason Lebron has ever been a decent defender is because the refs let him foul players.

He had that streak without fouling last year, how is that even possible? Fouls are a part of the game. If you're not commiting at least one foul a game, there is something wrong.

LeBron has two seasons with a below 100 defensive rating.

Durant has zero.
Hence, Bran's decline is beginning.

Wilt Chamberlain, who some people consider to be one of the greatest defensive players (EVER), never fouled out of a game. It's about being smart and knowing how much contact you can get away with. LeBron has a high basketball IQ.

I think that has more to do with the NBA (ABA?) not wanting its star player sitting on the bench because of fouls.

It's pretty clear LeBron and the Heat are only playing in second gear to conserve energy for the Playoffs. They've made 3 deep runs in the last 3 years so they won't want to be running on fumes in May. Also, they have the 2nd seed pretty much wrapped up and obviously feel they can beat the Pacers in the ECF without HCA. They'll slowly build up before the playoffs don't worry.
