Just watched his in practice Dunk Vid, since I hate D'antoni right now, take 7 words or less to explain why you think he wont participate.

Bron shies away from pressure situations

hes the type of ni99a that can only have sex with the lights off, dont want that eye contact and need his woman to constantly whisper reassurance into his ear in order for him to stay hard

Lebron isnt a contest dunker.

His two handed windmill from 2012 all-star game was better than any dunk in that same contest.

I don't know why he doesn't think he couldn't win..

He could do 4 straight standard windmills and they'd give it to him.

The video seems very cheap, as if he's putting forward his own Dunks to be scored without actually participating.

The whole thing seems very contrived.

Hes not competitive w/o a safety blanket
I think this is a really apt description of his competitive psyche. Explains 2010 semis, teaming with Wade and Bosh, 2011 Finals. It rears it's head way too often to be ignored.

Yeah he really should do it, because of all the fans he has. I do however think he is only really a power dunker. His vertical is still ridiculous, but since he is so bulky he maybe doesn't have the finesse ala Carter/Jordan. That wouldn't be good for the contest, he is a better in game dunker posterizing niqqas.

:lol seems to work since most of y'all come running into threads like this every year complaining. What's the point of him entering the contest. He wins, excuses will be made. He loses and he'll be criticized for it. It would've been great to do it early in his career, but I just don't see it ever happening at this point.

Who cares? The dunk contest is for casual fans. Real fans know what matters is the dunks you throw in a real game. Lebron is one of the best in game dunkers ever and THAT IS WHAT MATTERS. A competition where you can dribble (or not like a lot of contestants) and put a ball between your legs is overrated as hell.

i like how no one is quoting this.... the dude just did some dunks in practice and people video'd it. Why is no one saying Deandre join the dunk comp after some of the dunks he's done in practice.
Because Deandre never tweeted "Slam dunk contest....?" and talked about joining it year after years but never delivering.

Lebron will do the dunk contest as soon as Wade, Bosh, Durant, Rose, Love, Westbrook, Aldridge, Melo, Cousins, Harden, Anthony Davis, Rudy Gay, or David Lee does it.

He only wants to compete with overwhelming odds

I think for Lebron its just a lose-lose situation.... although we would like to see what he can do/come up with lets be real the expectations are just way to high for him, anything less than beating Vince Carter's 2000 performance or at least resurrecting the dunk contest somehow it will be deemed as a disappointment... just entering & winning will also be used as "asterix", "boohoo, overrated, anybody could have won that DC, weak stuff, i knew he couldnt do anything". There is just nothing we havent seen before.....

But ability wise im sure he can do some 50's..... he is a one leg leaper aka. distance leaper (meaning his vertical is highest when sprinting of one leg, left leg to be exact) a la Julius Erving, James White..... what they can/could do is the type of dunks he can do... jumping from the FT line for example.... his two foot jumping aint even close that good and that is what is required for dunks that require more bodycontrol/contortion in air like a 540 or a 360 alleyoop between the legs windmill or something... the only two foot leaper capable of something like that is Gerald Green maybe.

mans1ay3r
02-11-2014, 02:17 PM
He's always been more of a power dunker, which is great for in-game dunks. Dunk contest is more about the athletic finesse dunks.

If he entered the dunk contest I could see it now: It's his turn, and the all-stars on the bench, rappers in the front row, fans in the arena all stand up like they are about to witness the greatest dunk mankind has ever seen. :facepalm

People give Lebron a lot of shit but I dont even blame him in this case.

Along with James White i think Lebron is the greatest distance leaper i ever seen in basketball, with his speed & vertical of one leg its just a perfect combination for extreme distance leaping.... that would definitely been his theme in the DC... FT line dunking theme...

Starting of with a regular FT dunk, perhaps try take of behind or even a foot behind the FT line for the extra sauce..... then an alleyoop from the FT line.... then windmill from FT line? Then jump over a car from the FT line? Then.... between the legs from FT line? Hey now dont judge :D
