The only reason why he would even have a chance for DPOY was because there weren't too many deserving candidates and LeBron was incredible during the streak.

No, he's never been snubbed. He's always been in the Top of the voting, regardless.

I could see 12, though. And Duncan should have won last year. Hibbert will win this year. I never saw the case for 09, really.

These kind of statements (if he made them) just lower his credibility. It'd be one thing if he said after his career was over or something, but this is just some shameless award lobbying.

DRTG isn't used to compare one individual DRTG to another. The creator of that stat said it himself.

He is not right whatsoever. Robbed?? Really??? This guy is not even in the same category as Bruce Bowen ( who never won), j kidd, eric snow... Not even the caliber of a raja bell. What about Shane Battier or tony allen??? Is he a better defender than those two?? (When shane was in his prime). And thats just guards and wingmen

bigmen

ibaka
joakim noah
roy hibbert
Josh smith

none of these guys won and they are a thousand times better defensively and im sure even the greatest lover of lebron would admit that.

The most comparable player to lebrons style of defense is AK47 with the way both of them get blocks from the wing position and lebron is no AK47 either.

Sheesh

Lebron is the best player in the league so every play and possession gets watched closely. 1 block will make espn because its fancy and hes lebron, while another player can get 2 (not as fancy) and its just another day at the office. Imo ibaka was the best defender in the league for the last 3 years and still hasnt sniffed a dpoy. He has played like a modern ben wallace and it goes unnoticed because we are busy watching inferior defenders do once every 5 games what he does EVERY game.

LeBron has never been snubbed for DPOY, he simply never deserved it. If anyone should be griping about not winning DPOY it should be Tim Duncan, the fact he's never won DPOY in his career is one of the biggest travesty's in NBA history. He should have a minimum of 4 DPOY's by now and should have won it last year. I'm a Pistons fan and even I know Duncan should have won 1 or 2 of Ben Wallace's DPOY's.

I wouldn't go that far. Duncan was an outstanding defender but the only season where he had a very strong case was 2006-07. Camby won that year.

Based on what exactly? Blocks and steals numbers? Tim Duncan was the best defensive player in the NBA for over a decade and anchored the Spurs defense to Top 5 finishes on defense every single year, before, during and after Bruce Bowen. His defense is the reason the Spurs have stayed contenders all these years. Duncan should have multiple DPOY's by now. He was always a better defender than Ben Wallace, Ben just had more steals and blocks. Ben might have been better for one or two individual season's but Duncan was always consistently better at the end of the day. Duncan was a better post defender and rim protector than Wallace, he just didn't have the flashy BPG/SPG that Ben had. Duncan was always a better defender than Camby and Artest, to say otherwise is disrespectful IMO. He should have won in 05, 06, 07 and last year and had a case for every single year from 02 to 13. No one has been snubbed for DPOY more times than Duncan.

i honestly thought that he deserved it. Behind Durant and WB, ibaka barely got any recognition (understandably so). He was literally changing the way teams attacked. Mainly attacking the paint for the short stretches he was on the bench. That kind of game changing is Dpoy worthy.

I wish someone would name even one player that was shook because of lebron. I'm pretty sure whenever a team game plans for Bron that his defense is never even a factor

I see your argument and I agree with it. But on the other hand, he made a lot of bonehead plays, going for a lot of fakes and causing a lot of and 1s (which resulted him being in foul troube early) and caused a lot of goaltendings (also got away with many). He was being destroyed 1:1 on daily basis and his rotations and pick and role defense and his perimeter were not anything special either. That's just not something I'd expect from the DPOY.
