View Full Version : Will Durant get a pass from ISH, fans, and/or the media...

if he doesn't win the chip and FMVP this year?
He's the clear MVP (objectively) and is playing amazing, and most here are saying he's overtaken Lebron at the world's best. In addition, his team has a great record and is statistically dominant on both sides of the court, while missing its second best player who will return for the playoffs. Most here have anointed him the game's best player. Will he, or should he, get a pass if he doesn't win it all?

Lebron didn't win a ring on 60+ win teams and left in free agency to make things easier and he still gets a pass
so yes

Yes. People have a double standard here. Durant is not hated... yet. The only agenda against Durant are LeBron stans, and maybe upset Kobe stans. Only LeBron gets bashed for losing a series at a young age.

LeBron got hate for not winning at 24 years old. Durant is currently 25. So no, he shouldn't get a pass.

Wrong. LeBron got blasted because he single handedly lost his teams those series in 2007, 2008, and 2010. That's why he was blasted.
Also it all comes down to how he plays. If Durant plays at the same level he is now, it will be impossible to blame him for his team losing, if they did.

Lmfao are you ****ing retarded? Kill yourself please. Single handedly lost those series? He has arguably the goat playoff numbers and with terrible supporting cast after terrible supporting cast. Not 1 all star(mo will was added on b/c of multiple injuries, sucked, choked in the playoffs, and lbj made him decent). We all saw how bad the cavs were w/o lebron...from 50-60 wins to 1st pick for multiple years. Someone ban him please. Prob a kobe or durant stan too.

Not sure if srs...
2007 everyone already knows
2008 LeBron shot 36% from the field and AVERAGED over 6 turnovers per game that series. Cleveland actually won the series in total points, coming out +5 for the series, but lost in 7 to Boston. In 2 of those losses, LeBron combined to go 8-42(19 FG%) with 18 turnovers.
2010 Cleveland was up 2-1 on Boston with HCA and then this proceeded to happen.
Game 4 LeBron 22 points and 7 turnovers 7-18 shooting
Cleveland loses
Game 5 LeBron 15 points and 3 turnovers 3-14 shooting
Cleveland loses
Game 6 LeBron 27 points and 9 turnovers 8-21 shooting
Cleveland loses
21.3 ppg 6.3 TOV 34 FG% in 3 straight losses

Let's stop with this non-sense regarding 'legacy' and 'hate'.
If Durant doesn't win the title it will ONLY hurt his legacy IF he performs sucky. If he kills it yet they lose it won't be on him, there's only so much he could've done.
But if he plays sucky then of course it's his fault and he should get the blame. Will it hurt his legacy? perhaps not, he's still young he still has a chance and what he's done so far this season is basically historic. He'd have to be very sucky.

durant gets a pass for this year because he didn't claim he's going to win a championship for cleveland, 7 for miami and didn't leave to join up with another 2 star players in a televised press conference without informing cleveland first. At no point has Durant said "this gonna be easy"

you're talking about 2008? maybe because the celtics were really ****ing good at defense?
if you are gonna go as far as to blame the guy that initiates the offense, scores the majority of the teams points, leads team in rebounding/blocks/stls/assists, and guards the other team's best player then are you willing to admit that it was kobe's fault they lost or "choked" in the finals then? or are you going to blame Pau for this?

holy shit, the guy who constantly bags on Kobe for any failure he's ever had is taken back by somebody blaming the "guy who initiates the offense" while shooting 35% and creating 5 turnovers a game,
so no matter how poorly a player plays we aren't allowed to critisize them if they "initiate" the offense? :lol
so then why do you constantly take shots at KD for his Memphis series w/o WB?
And no, anybody watching the 2008 finals wouldn't blame Kobe, no all stars on the team, Vladimir Radmanovic was a starter and our back up big men consisted of Luke Walton & Ronny Turiaf and Pau Gasol was on a milk carton while simultaneously being found just long enough to be dicked on in the paint on almost every possession

first off, I hardly bag Kobe, my only problem is with the Kobetards. Kobe's actually one of my favorite guys I enjoy watching in the NBA. he plays very differently from lebron but it's interesting to me. And obviously we're all allowed to criticize whoever plays poorly but SOLELY blaming lebron for the cavs losing to the 08 celtics is fvcking ridiculous.

and you're gonna act like kobe's 26/5/5 on 40% with 3 TO/g isn't pretty close to what lebron was doing with a MUCH better team? it almost sounds like you're arguing that the 08 lakers were worse than the 08 cavs

Yes because Miami are still the title favourites.
If he loses early? That's different.. But if he loses to the favourites? Why should he get killed for that?
He will get shitted on. He has another superstar and a bunch of quality players around in a team performing great.
I mean, even Melo who is in no position to win a championship is getting all kinds of shit talked about him.
