View Full Version : Is there another rookie besides Michael Carter Williams who is balling?

I keep hearing that this goofy mutherf*cker is a shoe in for rookie of the year and I just can't believe that he is the only rookie who is standing out right now. I just don't see what is so special about Michael Carter Williams to be a shoe in for rookie of the year. How can that be possible when he is playing on a team that is getting smashed by 45 pts?

So please, can someone name another rookie who is playing better?

Or is this a sh*tty year for rookies?

If there was any consideration for big wins, Oladipo was helping his team beat the best squads from both conferences this past week while MCW's team was getting blown out by 40 in back-to-backs. :confusedshrug:

Dipo has been alright, mclemore looks like he could become something. Bennett has looked like a top 5 pick the last few weeks. Im keen to see noels play

MCW and Burke are both better players than Oladipo.

Hardaway Junior is the best rookie.

Oladipo is the ROY. People are overrating MCW because of that performance in Miami.

Oladipo put his team on his back and scored 12 in the 4th to win over the best seeded team in the east.

It's arguable. It depends on what you're there to do, how much you're playing, etc. There's not clear-cut to me between those three. Burks is clearly more efficient scoring by several percentage points than Oladipo and Carter-Williams.

pretty clear-cut dipo. especially when you factor in defense and how dipo has to play behind jameer.

Dipo: 14 points 4.4 rebs 4 ast 1.6 steals .6 blocks on 41/30/78

MCW: 17 points 5.4 rebs 6.4 ast 2.1 steals .7 blocks on 40/29/70

Pretty much no argument for Oladipo.

What? Burke shoots 37% I thought...

:oldlol: That's what happens when you have two players on the same team with similiar names. My mistake.

When you factor in Oladipo is the much better defender, has to play out of position too it's Dipo. Especially if the Magic keep running the young lineup.

He's not a much better defender though. Not sure why you think that.

Watch the games people. They're both pretty good defenders.

IMO worst draft class ever.

Oladipo, Hardaway and MCW have been decent. Would have liked to see Noel but I guess they're not risking him.
Bennett, I still think he'll be decent if given the minutes. Seems like he played alright today..

wtf happened to the rest of the top 12????

And in regards to ROY, that's like special Olympics this year :facepalm

His DRtg is 105 and MCW's is 107 while playing on a team that's way worse defensively overall.

You're using dRtg the wrong way. You don't use it to compare player individually. Fail.

The only fail is going to be you crying into your 5th grade textbook when MCW takes the award home.

It gives a vague estimate of defense while on the court?

Sort of like saying "Oladipo is way better defender lol."

MCW is way better on offense, and at the very least almost as good on defense, and will win Rookie of the year this year.

Oladipo looked good against the Hawks when we played them, that's about all I've seen of him. Idk if the Magic are still trying to make him play PG but that seemed like a mistake. He will end up being a very solid starter though, especially with the dearth of quality 2 guards in the league at the moment.

Lol. You're a joke. Get out of this thread. You don't watch Dipo or MCW play on a regular basis.

Like any stat, it needs context. The defensive ones especially. Most defenses are about teammate positioning and switching/rotating, and hedging.A good defender playing on a bad defensive team will have worse defensive stats because of the team play. Even if there was straight iso ball being played there is no reason to assume players will guard the same players. Good defenders guard great players, bad or mediocre defenders will guard bad ones. A good defender getting lit up by a great player isn't somehow a bad defender and vice versa.
