That was an awesome season by Dwight. He was a bigger impact player than Rose. The Magic just weren't good enough though.

So Dwight would be the only MVP not getting into the HoF? Cool. :coleman:

Some people actually think Howard won't go into the HoF. lol

Penny Hardaway isn't going into the hall and his (very short) peak was comparable to Rose's MVP season. His knees/athleticism were done after his 3rd year.

2 full seasons of AS caliber basketball isn't enough. If he never plays well enough to make another AS berth, you can pretty much write him off.

true lebron was better that year, and fantastic in the 5 games bulls-heat. bad vs dallas but mvp is for regular season and without the RS record rose would not win. also howard has a big case over his as a better player that year.

if magic had bulls record DHoward would have one MVP today.

D Howard had a classic how not to win a MVP year.

First he was severely punked by Lebron. Lebron said he was going to Orlando and bustt up the place because he disliked what the GM? or President said. Lebron goes into Orlando and drops 51 on the Magic. Lebron didn't get a hard foul and pulled rank on DH.

The owner realizing his team didn't have pride, rightfully broke the team up.

Orlando was only a game and a half behind the Bulls on March first. Within a two weeks the Bulls are creating some distance already above a five game lead. In a pivotal game against the Bulls, Rose scores more points in the paint than Howard does and the Bulls win the game. Howard also receives a tech and is suspended the next game. The Bulls literally beat them twice in one game. Orlando now has no realistic chance of catching the Bulls.

In a game against Sacramento coach Gundy doesn't put the DPOY on rookie DMC. Dwight doesn't say "let me guard him coach" - DMC is one of two or three offensive centers in the whole league. DMC is erupting for 28 points in a close game. Not a word from Dwight. Rose has contained the way more explosive guards and would have put up a fight if the coach didn't allow him to guard a star guard. The level of leadership is given notice. I noted this on this board during that year.

Then Lebron declared Rose the MVP maybe because Rose team had the best record despite all the injuries, or, perhaps to drive the final nail in Dwight's MVP coffin. Dwight would not have gotten one MVP first place vote if those two journalist weren't trying to keep DH in Orlando. He didn't deserve the two votes.

What has Howard done to get in? If we put him in we would have to put in a lot more players

You mean aside from having a peak that is higher than a lot of the HoF? You mean aside from all his DPotY? You mean aside from leading the league in certain stats year in year out? You mean aside from being the clear cut best center in the league for multiple years? You mean aside from being first team? 5 times? You mean outside being the best player on a team that went to a Finals?

But no, it's cool to hate hate hate. Literally all that is stopping him is not finishing his career. He could fall off dramatically from what he is now and retire within 5 years and he's still a lock to get in.
