View Full Version : Saddest moments in NBA history?

What's the worst thing for you that happened in an NBA game? I know Spurs fans have nightmares about Game 6, but to me personally, Kobe walking on one leg to make it to the FT line after carrying a team to the Playoffs really got to me, it wasn't like it made me cry, but I had chills, I knew the season was over as soon as he went down, it was inevitable. When he walked up the the FT line I knew he'd swish both of them, but it just stunned me when I was watching the game live, it was like the entire game/season was pointless from the moment he fell down and grabbed his achilles.

I cried when the Magic lost to the Hawks in '11 and Boston in '10. Part of the reason why I can't stand the Hawks and the fact that they made lucky shit the whole series. What a shitty joke of a team. Boston was hard because I felt that we could go to the finals again and the series started off with them 3-0. Then we won 2 straight and I thought maybe we could make history but we got blown out in Boston. Still rooted for Boston in the finals though. Would have won if Perkins didn't get hurt.

Seattle mayor and Clay bubba Bennett call simultaneously call their own a press conference.

Seattle mayor announces he will let the team go to okc.

Bubba announces with a subtle smirk "the NBA will be in Oklahoma city next season."

A void was immediately felt by yours truly.

yep the poor guy had no help that year. what can you do with a former mvp, best center in the league, a hof power forward. biggest underperformance for a team in nba history, title contenders, best team before season that turned into a 7th seed. :facepalm HE DIDN'T CARRY SHIT, HE IS NOT CAPABLE OF DOING THAT.

Steve Nash and Pau both missed 30+ games, Dwight Howard came off major surgery and wasn't himself until late in the season, no bench, 3 different coaches, injuries to every single point guard that led to Kobe being forced to play 40+ minutes a game at point, while Earl Clark, a bench warmer was given starters minutes. The Lakers were so stacked last year :facepalm

Anyone that followed the team knows that they were injured and relied on Kobe to do everything on the offensive end because Howard couldn't post up without fouling, our playmakers were injured and our 3pt shooters were cold. The Lakers I think led the league in 3pt attempts but were in the bottom in 3pt%, Metta World Peace took like 10 threes every game and was lucky to make 3-4 of them, teams would just leave him wide open and he'd brick most of them, then you have Jamison, who's gotten 11 minutes per game on the Clippers squad this year, but who played over 20 minutes a game for us.

C-Webb, leaving Robert Horry wide open at the top of the key :oldlol:

For those that followed the Lakers or the NBA in general back then, the Kings deserved to lose that series. They couldn't seal the deal on their home floor. They got 30 FTA in Game 7 and barely made 50% of them :oldlol: and it was decided in OT while the Lakers made over 80% of theirs. I also remember 4 guys on the Lakers had double-doubles with 10+ rebounds, we basically played our starting 5 for the entire game.

Dirk not playing a single second in a Bucks jersey. Kills me to this day seeing him with the Mavs.

Caron Butler being traded to the Bucks. **** that guy.

MJ playing for the Wizards.

Kobe's 2 free throws on a torn achilles. You could tell. You could see it on his face. Not just that the season was over, but that his career could've been over.

Doesn't excuse the fact they choked Game 4 and Game 7, bro. They deserved to win both of those games and came short when it mattered. Game 6 wouldn't have happened had C-Webb covered Horry, ha ha.

People like to forget Wizards MJ. I really didn't enjoy him when he played for Washington, just wasn't that good anymore, though he did have a few great games.

MJ ended his career as a Chicago Bull with a game-winning shot to win the title, that should have been his last game ever.

Exactly. It was pre-season for him, just the matter of getting used to the game speed and getting his legs back, since he'd been limited for months and needed a lot of training to get his hops back to 90% where they were before. I think this season and his knee injury was a blessing in disguise. He now gets rest so his achilles will probably be better in the long run and he won't risk injury in a meaningless season, we'll come back next season with a solid roster and he'll be 100% then and we'll see the same Kobe we've been used to seeing, just with less hops, but still pretty much the same.

I'm a Kings fan, but I try to analyze things fairly. I can understand why Lakers fans were upset about Game 5 of this series. It's not clear if the out of bounds play was off of Webber or Horry. Shaq got called for a couple bogus fouls.

Durant crying after losing in the Finals hit pretty hard. To see someone that truly cares that much, and puts everything on the line, to fall apart when he hugs his parents due to failing at the thing he loved most. It was that moment when you realize you failed and the people there to embrace/comfort you are your parents. Really showed just how much of a kid at heart Durant still was and you have to feel bad for him.

kobe injury. You just knew it was the beginning of the end but you just cant help believe it because of Kobe's longevity

Rose injury, you're thinking to yourself "Please dont let it be a ACL" and turns out it is.

The decision was more funny then sad if you're a neutral fan but you can really feel for Cav fans and their pain

Duncans interview with the "I should've made that bunny" after he missed it in gm7, that was pretty hard to see.

This is a bonus but i think for that poster "Pauk" i think when LBJ got blocked by kobe twice in the all star game and he posted like a 2000 word essay, that was one of the saddest moments in NBA history for him
