He would be lucky to win the Player of the Week award in the Eastern Conference considering the size of the egg he laid in Utah.

as much as I'd like to see this level of play continue from the King, doubt it happens...Durant is more than likely to grab the MVP this year. after January's play, and even the continued high stats against the Lakers, it's going to be hard to catch up.

Lebron would need Westbrook to alter Durant's game heavily, and for the Heat to take commanding lead of the best record and for Lebron to up his current play to maybe 30/8/8 while hitting the 60% mark. tough challenge ahead.

Lebron already has 4 NBA MVP. I think he's gunning for his 3rd finals MVP Award. ( Jordan with 6, Magic, Shaq, and Duncan with 3).

his january play was nice, but using last night's game to boast up durant....just doesn't work like that. that was one of the worst 40 point games i've seen. 33 shots? horrible. let's not forget we're talking about the lakers here, with (no)d'antoni as the coach.

yes and no...sure it was inefficient, but no one is going to look at that 1-particular games FG% as opposed to the bottomline stats in a the win. they came away with the game, and Durant dropped 40+..that's all they'll take from this Lakers game IMO

ya maybe to the casual fans. to the hardcore fans who understand the game, logic behind it and context. this wasn't a very impressive 40 point game.

impressive or not for the casual/hardcore fan....come MVP voting, no one is dissecting this game that much. however Durant got the 40+, he got it and also the win.

if you want to get extra technical...Lebron should lose some ground too because his turnovers have been pretty high this year as well, but luckily for him, they don't get into those details as much so long as the W's are there

True that my mistake, I miss calculated. But also let's ignore the fact Durant has averaged 35PPG, shooting over 52% averaging about 7/7 since January 1st.

But let's make a thread about a whole two games. You and you're agenda.

The one thing that Durant needed to win the MVP had to happen for him to do. And that was for Westbrook to get injured a decent amount of time to show Durant could lead this team. And it happened, and Durant has exploded.

Personally for me, Durant would have to fall off pretty hard for him not to win MVP.

Kevin Durant past 25 games:

35/8/6 on 53/40/88 shooting
125 ORTG 104 DRTG, 65% TS

With a 10-game stretch of

38/6/6/2/1 on 52/39/88 shooting
133 ORTG 105 DRTG, 66% TS

And you guys are cheering about 2 of Lebron's games? Let's wait till there's another digit to that number and then we'll talk.
