Did you think Durant would be the best player in the league while he was in Texas?

Did you think Curry would become top 5?

Did you think Durant would be the best player in the league while he was in Texas?

Nope. Thought he would get manhandled at the NBA level. He was rail thin and it was reported he couldn't do a single rep of 185 on the bench press at the combine (Only player who couldn't). Thought he would be forced to play PF ala Dirk because his handles weren't good enough to be a SF and his complete lack of strength would be exploited by big men.

Did you think Curry would become top 5?

Nope. Might be right still.

I thought Durant would top out at around 24 PPG. Then again I didn't really watch alot of College basketball that year or most years for that matter.

Curry is alot better than I expected him to be but he's not a Top 5 player in the NBA right now.

I think Curry is a lot better than almost anyone in the NBA thought he would be. He's put in a lot of work. You can't be that good of a shooter unless you're working at it. And it seems all his life he's been told he's too slow or too small and he's turned out to be a great offensive player.

No trolling.
LeBron gets away with murder out there. No denying he is an amazing athlete, but the league has manufactured him.

-pushes off with hi off hand on every drive
-gets away with an inordinate amount of fouls
-travels more than any player I have ever seen
-never gets called for technicals, is allowed to get away with behaviour that others would get ejected for

I don't know how anyone could have watched Durant and not think he would be good. He was a 6-9, 18 year old, launching NBA 3s at will and getting in the lane like a PG. I remember that game against Oklahoma State and his shot making ability was unreal. Everytime Texas needed a big shot Durant would hit it. They lost too. Incredible game if you can find it on YouTube. 3 OT and a game winner.

Not the best player, but top 5 potential. For the record I still would have drafted Oden. Didn't think Oden had as high of a ceiling, but he had a much higher floor (some bust probability with Durant because of his slight frame). Was thinking a legit champiosnhip defensive anchor with average offense was the eventual floor for Oden.

Who didn't underrate Steph?

I was about to type a response but I'm glad I read this first. These were literally my exact thoughts on the question. Many people thought Durant would be a top player in the NBA, but I too would have picked Oden. He was just so beast in college...lookin like Shaq. I thought Steph woulda been Mo Williams best case.

then I guess my IQ is just so high above yours. Once a player focuses on the most difficult/most important aspect(shooting/scoring) then you know hes on the right track. Only insecure statpadders would focus on all-around play. That's why LeBron fears Durant that he has to form a superteam

and curry was a knock-down sharp shooter who set records in college. i knew he'd be good but he's not top 5 by any stretch of the imagination.

No (but I knew he would be more than a college sharpshooter whose game doesn't translate because of his more well rounded game)

I knew they were superstar players (you can def dig up some posts on it), but you can never know if someone will be greatest/top5 or just superstar or even all-star. Those things come down to work and maybe a little luck, too.

I can't say I'm surprised at all, though.

I'm trying to think of something that surprised me... I didn't think Kyrie was gonna be really good, and I guess the jury is out on that still. I remember some shit that really surprised me... but I can't think of what it was.

I can't say I saw Curry being THIS good but I thought he would be a very good NBA player. The handle and release he showed in college was definitely going to translate to the NBA level. The 20 ppg I saw coming but the near 10 apg are a surprise.

I'm surprised Durant became this well rounded. He was obviously going to get his offensively but he is a better defender and passer than I would have predicted.
