I think he doesn't get it this year, but gets it next year. So 5 AT LEAST. Don't know any other probable candidates after next year outside of KD and Bron. Anthony Davis maybe?

Milbuck

It's not unrealistic, but I don't think it's happening. I don't think he's getting any better anymore, while KD is. If he doesn't get it this year, I can't see him getting more than one more, maybe two. I think it's gonna be AD and KD's award from here on out. Maybe Lillard down the road too, if the Blazers keep picking up pieces and become a true championship contender.

I personally think he's going to try very hard to do exactly this, and I believe he will succeed. He knows how good it would look for his legacy.

Not so much. It's Durant's MVP Winning Time now... perhaps 1 more. MAYBE 2. 3?

it'll be hard not to put him in the top 3 if that happens even if he only has 2 rings.

Very unlikely because I think he's going to put less emphasis on the regular season going forward.

The dude is just so big, I just can't see how his knees can continue to hold up with him running and jumping all over the place. I know he's a pretty bionic dude but I think he's gonna have to slow down and play a more methodical game. I don't think it will make him any less effective when the games really matter, but I think it will slow his regular season stats down some. Younger guys who are comin up and goin hard in the regular season will probably start putting up better digits not to mention get "new face/good story" votes etc.

I just can't see Lebron getting three more.

edit: Just looked at Lebron's stats for this year and realized he's still shooting 57% (I had assumed it had dropped some from his hot start) and scoring 26.5 points and 6.6 assists. So.... yeah. Jesus. If it weren't for Durant going HAM as a MFer he'd still have easily the best numbers in the game. Pretty cray.

Unlikely but not unrealistic.

It's Davis's and Durant's to lose from here on out.

NuggetsFan
02-18-2014, 03:03 PM
I don't see it. Good chance he loses this year. Another year older and Durant will be right there for the rest of his career. Not factoring in other young players improving, current players being on a great team like a P.George, LMA etc. 5 years from now there will atleast be 1 or 2 MVP candidates we haven't seen yet and he'll be 34-35.

3 more is just too much, unless he wins this year. If he somehow wins it this season than 2 more becomes alot more realistic.

Ca$H

Very likely. The media is desperate to give it to him and will look for any excuse to do so. How else do you explain Shaq-1 and LeBron-4. Even Jordan had to deal with the "but he already won" bias(Karl Malone) but LeBron doesn't.

Draw your own conclusions about either the player or the award.

There is no question Bron is better than Magic and Kobe, thats just a fact. So I dont know why you mentioned them.

Shaq did not always go that hard in the regular season. Duncan drew very little attention to himself.

Unless u have realistic suggestions who should have won instead of bron, and u dont, then ur a fairy boy.

Lebron is now a 6'8 MJ, deal with it. Offense and defense he is a monster. He even dragged a crummy team to a finals which MJ couldn't do in his early career. There are no holes in his game. He runs the break, he posts up now, he's hitting threes consistently. Oh yeah, and he's a monster on defense.

Guys like Magic and Bird were great players whose legacies are further elevated by the fortune of being surrounded by other greats for most of their careers. Neither player was as good as Lebron. "Rings" is the argument for dummies, yeah, we all know that, you don't know how to critique or judge players without having a moronic talking point to use as a crutch. Dummies gonna dummy and that's ur role, I aint mad atcha playa I embrace you.

But I'm sorry dawg. Lebron is a better basketball player than Magic and Kobe ever were at any point.

Try to deal with it.

only thing Lebron does better are shooting 3s and defense.

Magic's offense is far better than Lebron's offense.

if you have trouble sinking that in then you are delusional.

Not happening. Durant will win it this year and next year when OKC comes close to 70 wins with a healthy Westbrook. After that, LeBron will be too old.

I don't know, it's quickly becoming KD's league. Slim Reaper has this year's MVP on lock. He's only 25, a player's peak is between 27 and 29 years old. He's going to grab at least a couple more barring variables unforeseen.

LeBron is getting to the point in age, and career where he's saving himself exclusively for long trips into June in consecutive seasons. That's wearing. MVPs are probably no longer his concern. As evidence by his play this season.

In addition, when LeBron loses his athleticism we still don't know how well he's going to age. Graceful or not. I have a hard time seeing him win a 5th MVP let alone get to 7 of them.

If LBJ wins two more MVPs and two more rings he is top three with MJ and Kareem.

How is LeBron not in your top ten? 4x MVPs, 2x Finals MVPs, 2x Rings? That alone should put him over Hakeem, and Wilt. What more does he need to do to finally break your top ten? He's been the best player in the league since 2009.

Except you dont know if youre going to get a choking bran in the playoffs any given year.. 2007 Finals, 2008 ECFs, 2010 second round, 2011 Finals, 2013 Finals(almost).. and thats all in his prime. You can count on MJ coming through and dominating to cap it off

Silk / moe94 / TonyMontana is that you in there? Your stupid Jordan topic last night with not so hidden LeStan agenda. Now this comment? It's been said time and time again.

2007 Eastern Conference was TERRIBLE. Yes, LeBron took them to the Finals. Where he played about as terrible as you can, never lifting his team to even one win, where they got embarrassed and swept.

San Antonio's game plan on LeBron? Let him shoot wide open jumpers.

Meanwhile, your inaccurate statement. Jordan in '88, and '89 as under dogs lead the Bulls in a more difficult conference to the conference finals, where in '89 MJ damn near single handedly gave the Detroit Pistons their only losses of the season.

The would go on to be champions, sweeping Magic's Lakers. Who had much superior talent than MJ's Bulls. Doesn't that tell you something?

MJ single handedly gave the eventual champions who swept through the playoffs their only losses of the season in the Conference Finals >>> LeBron taking the Cavs to the Finals in a weak ass conference, only to get swept in embarrassing fashion.

I think Lebron already lost some of his athleticism, mainly his quickness. I don't think he'll loose a lot ofhis his vertical and speed. Michael Jordan can still dunk and he's 51.

He's lost his first step (average as it was to begin), quickness in half court, and lateral movement. But he's still extremely fast, and as evidence this year can still explode like a rocket ship to the rim. We're talking head equal or above. He has skill to age nice. But I want to see it when the athleticism REALLY fades. See Kobe post 2009. Or Jordan post 1995. Jordan in 1998 had NO leaping ability left. Same goes for Kobe since 2010.
