Would be a sad day

What about Pierce/KG/Allen/Carter?

I think he still have a year or two left in him, so unless he lost a desire to play or nursing an injury, TD will return next season.

He's got to retire some day. Everyone does. There is life after basketball.

He has already had his legacy secured. Guaranteed HoF. Retiring this or later years doesn't really matter at this point.

If he wins the championship this season he will retire for sure though.

I hope he gives us a victory lap next season.

Wouldn't surprise me if it's his last season. He's had a long illustrious career. Doesn't need to prove anything

Will be a sad day when he walks away. Same impact as Kobe leaving the game.
This generation has quickly passed us by.

Sooner or later, we will have no more players left in the NBA who started in the 90s.

I've always had the thought that KG, Duncan, & Kobe should retire at the same time.

Garnett should have retired last season (especially considering the trade). Duncan has at least another season left after this in my opinion; and Kobe has a couple of years left (depending on how well he returns from the injury).

Great 17 yrs NBA Career.

I wish he did average over 25.4 ppg in the regular season, but he and the spurs coasted in the regular season, and nobody gave a $hit.

Eh, Duncan pretty much gave up stats to develop his players.

It's one his best traits tbh. :confusedshrug:

Gotta agree with this. It's sad to see Garnett bricking wide open mid-range shots he used to knock down on the regular.

Same with Lebron this season. He's still averaging 26.3 ppg (3rd in scoring), and some of his haters are still criticizing him.

Lebron is coasting because the Heat just had their 3rd straight finals appearance last June. and he wants to be 100% healthy in the playoffs.

Be honest now though. LeBron seems pretty crazed/mad about being called the second best player in the league.

It's a Catch 22 for him. It's obvious he wants the MVP, but he won't get it unless he drains himself come Playoff time :confusedshrug:

Finals MVP is now much more important for Lebron. He's already have 4 regular season MVP. I still think the Heat would finish with the best record in the NBA/East. The Pacers are just 2 games ahead of Miami.

I can't see him retiring at the end of this season, unless the Spurs win the championship.

He's still one of the best big men in the game (he's averaging 16/10/3/2 in about 30 minutes) after all.

KG had a solid season last year. Yes, he was a bit upset about the trade last year, but the its not like he was going to a scrub team (at the time) He was going to a team where many analysts predicted as a top team in the East. While that may have not turned out as planned, but cant blame him for playing.

He has to stay in for at least another year. No idea what to do with this league if my favorite player is not in it.

I wonder what the chances were of him retiring if they won last year...

Probably slim.

Pop has always implied that when Duncan hangs it up, he will too...and I definitely could not see a First-Team All-NBAer and the championship winning coach retiring like that

Like what? On top? How else do you think they would want to retire? As a first round exit?

Classy, humble, role model, blah blah blah.

We get it already.

But Duncan was, and still is one of the most productive players in the league.

It's not like he's David Robinson clinging on to dear life. And it's not like last season was his last chance to ever win another one :confusedshrug:

should have retired last year after the point blank miss in game 7. :hammerhead:
