Not sure how I feel about this. I'm not a big fan of Love's game and this would hurt our tanking chances, but obviously we need talent in the long term.

I'm not sure if the Mavs and Lakers are both trying to land him, or if the 3 teams are in a 3-way talk.

If we traded for him would we get his Bird rights?

Kevin Love is better than any rookie. The Lakers need real time talent before Kobe retires.

Only good thing LA has is its first round pick but why would they give that up when they know they can sign Love in 2015 FA and potentially have a young star by keeping the pick.

Yeah, the guy who's never made the playoffs is gonna hurt your chances a getting a good draft pick.....

**** that. Wiggins/Embiid/Exum would be a huge get.

Kobe won't be a big piece on any more Lakers teams that will contend most likely, don't ****ing mortgage the future for a quick bandaid fix.

even with the knowledge that he'll most likely leave minny after next year, what can we realistically offer MIN that theyd actually want?

lakers are full of expirers and will have a lottery pick this year, but other than that, we have nothing. is that something minny would even want to start their rebuild? its a gamble, but they may be able to find something better before next years rebuild. though, its not as likely.

The Lakers are going in for Love? I thought they would wait, I dunno what package they could put together, unless its a 3 team deal like someone else said.

Gasol to Minne would stick just because of Rubio, everyone should know that.

Mitch shouldn't do it. Don't give up one of the only draft picks you have that's likely guaranteed to be Top 6 for anyone not named LeBron or KD.

You'll literally end up like the Knicks down the road. A max player who isn't good enough to win a championship without serious pieces added around him, another max player whose health and cap hit will cripple their chances of contending until he's off the books, and no resources available to make any other moves because you traded your draft picks away like dumbasses.

Also, what do the Mavs do with Love and Dirk? Love play the 3? Dirk play the 5?

I dont **** with Kevin Love...but Love is a 25 year old star. Id take him over a potential star in the draft.

The Lakers should be up for getting Love if there's a trade that would still leave them with capspace to sign Melo. Otherwise just be patient and wait it out.

You can't trade consecutive first round picks. I'm not even sure when the next Laker pick is trade eligible.

Yeah you can, you can trade your pick every single year. You just can't at any moment have two consecutive picks traded at the same time. But once the draft passes you can trade your next pick again.

At least that's how I always thought it was

When did I say anything about the #1 pick? Anything in the top four is fine.

Don't put words in my mouth.

There's a way around that. It's called pick swap.

Told a lot more teams than the Lakers & Mavs have called or texted Flip/Milt inquiring about Love. Doesn't matter. Not moving now. #twolves

Thats how I read it too.

But the Lakers still owe the Suns their 2015 pick in the Nash trade. I think it's like top 10 protected. So they legally can't move their 2014 pick until draft day I think.

And then, the Lakers owe Orlando the next eligible 1st round pick in the Dwight Howard trade. Which would be the 2017 pick I think, since they can't move their 2016 pick

:lol oh how excited I was about those two deals the day they each happened

But I doubt Flip is going to move Love

Lakers wouldnt trade their pick for Love, even if they could

How stupid would that be? Love is gonna be a Laker the first chance he gets

LA can't trade that pick. They have to first draft a guy and them they can trade that selection.

2015 FA is over a year away. So much can change by then. What if the Lakers' draft pick is a bust and Kobe is clearly an injured mess and the Lakers look even more terrible by then? You don't think Love rethinks going there? What if another team like the Warriors or Suns offer a nice package for Love and then Love actually loves the situation there and decides to resign? What if the Heat can free up capspace via Wade retiring?

Love's not coming. We don't have the assets to trade for Love. And, he won't wait around to play on a rebuilding team. He'll get an attractive offer next season with some other team and agree to a sign and trade for multiple years. Players always go after the money. I'd be happier keeping the draft pick anyways.
