View Full Version : Kobe's return this season very unlikely, his knee hasn't healed enough for MRI

Kobe Bryant's knee hasn't healed enough to where he'll have an MRI. And that's the first step before he resumes any other activity.

Damn. Any chance Kobe had to pass Kareem's scoring record just went out the window.

With the team as bad as it is forcing an early return wouldn't be productive anyway. Respect him for wanting to earn his money but the Lakers are done.

Over/under for next season's ppg: 18.

MRIs are so weird the first time.

My first MRI, after I got up on the table and closed my eyes as the slid the table into the MRI machine. After like 30 seconds, I opened my eyes and saw that the ceiling was mere inches from my face. People who has fears of small spaces must freak the fcuk out when they get an MRI.

if this was any other franchise giving a massive contract to a player early in the year when he hasn't even stepped back on the court after a big injury at his age we would have numerous threads about how that franchise had the worst management in the league. But it's the lakers so no one can talk about a poor decision....
the signing isn't terrible but why offer him a large contract before he's even proven himself fit

Dude, it's not even the franchise. If the lakers did this with any other player than Kobe, people would go nuts. Can you imagine if they gave a yet-to-return-from-injury Pau Gasol a big contract. Heads and eyeballs would explode

You're overly sensitive. It's silly when posters get upset over a simple observation. Adding to your irrelevance, this thread has nothing to do with the Cs and the Celtics, being in the East, have a much easier road to a playoff spot. Your prediction is based completely on bias and both teams have to see what they get out of the upcoming draft class and free agency before the next season can be predicted realistically.

By the time Kobe's gone, the Kobe stans will latch on the Lakers current star, be it Kyrie Irving, Wiggins, Parker, Durant, etc

It's time for him to hang it up, he's been playing for nearly 2 decades. He has nothing else to prove. He had a pretty damn good run if you ask me

Would rather have a healthy Kobe next season with a good draft pick than a hobbled Kobe trying to win games that they should be losing.

At this point he's just gotta the take the year off before all of these little nagging injuries lead to another achilles-type major injury. I still think he can get back to 80% of what he was in 2010 for another season or two, better to play on your terms then prolong your post-prime suffering ie current nash.

i don't think it's as bad as the lakers camp is leading us to believe. i think they really want to tank and get a great pick, load up on free agents and let a fully healthy kobe go to town for the next couple years with a better roster to see what they can get. and i think kobe's on board with the idea

A sad day in the league when the great, "fabled" Laker franchise, that every player wants to be a part of, has to tank in the hopes of getting someone who's hopefully not a bust in the draft. Times have definitely changed, that's for sure.

Define "done"

Garnett is "done". Kobe has a season or two of a productive ball player left. Hardly "done".

Kobe being on the bench still sells tickets. Dude should just take his time and come back 100% next season. I know Kobe's contract is a lot, but he's probably made 10x that for LA while he's been there.
