I love Nicki Minaj's response because it is so uneducated and downright stupid. http://www.bet.com/news/music/2014/02/18/nicki-minaj-talks-controversial-new-track.html

"All the real n----s I know f--k with the song, so, if you b-----n' about the song, somethin' ain't right," she maintained. "I'm talkin about real n----s been textin' me like, 'Yo, I'm so glad you gettin' these n----s' asses!' I'm talkin' about n----s that really move weight, you know what I'm sayin'? It's crazy, so I don't know...if you've got a problem with it, you guilty of somethin' "

Somehow I highly doubt OP gives two shits about Malcolm X legacy and jus using this 'story' as another reason to bash and draw criticism to contemporary blacks.

Lol I can't stand Minaj and her voice, rapping , etc. and my opinion on her was made a long time ago so this means nothing to me personally

You kno MightyWhitey jus covets negative attention for a uhhmm, certain sect of Americans. I doubt he sees Malcolm X with much reverence

Hey if "contemporary blacks" need to use the N word in a description with Malcolm X then criticism is warranted. But you see I'm not the one that said something first. The daughter of Malcolm X did.
Maybe black youth should also be taught to not use the N word. A little hypocritical to what all those black human rights leaders fought and died for don't you think? Maybe Nicki Minaj should buy a book on Malcolm X. It might fix her vocabulary and she may even speak proper English.

Meh. Who gives a shit what his daughter thinks? N*gga has become a term of endearment and I see no problem with the term being used next to a picture of Malcolm X. :confusedshrug:

I have no clue what "Lookin ass n*gga" is supposed to mean though. That's one I haven't heard before. Can someone clue me in? Does it mean looking to kill you or something? If so, I can see why people wouldn't like this.

A little overdone to call out blacks for using n!gga as hypocritical... Shits been going on for decades and you yourself have hammered this point so many times it just is a big waste of time.

You're not changin anybody's lifestyle, causing reevaluation to anybody's behavior. You just sound redundant all the time becuz you have some big problem with Black America and what they deem is acceptable.

Basically, your opinions are more common than a dime a dozen, not insightful or creative or interesting. If u wanna make a difference about it, go mentor young black kids in person at a community center. All you do is repeat the same narrative over and over on a message board.

Truth is a big butt hurt. I know. I got what you're trying to convey. Black America though? No. Sorry. Just America.
And young black kids shouldn't be at a community center waiting for me to teach them how utterly stupid it is to use a racist term when referring to each other. That's what parents are for. Or is this another problem you don't want me mentioning because this is "overdone" also?

Words evolve, but you know that.

N*gga is not a racist term if the intention is not racist. The sting has been taken out of the word for probably most people. I can see why that would make someone named "MightyWhitey" upset though. N*gger is supposed to be the racists word to put the black man down. Now that blacks have turned it into a term of endearment, the word has lost the power it once had. White racists must hate that (For the record, I'm white).

I'm not butthurt. I'm not a black man so I guess I have my own criticisms of what a large quantity wish to portray themselves as. Using n!gga doesn't bother me as much as a lot of other trends young black dudes repeat with alarming frequency.

I don't think blacks callin each other n!gga is a racist term, I see it as collective belonging thing, feeling part of an identifiable subculture. Sometimes it is hurled at anybody and anything but mainly, it has a connotation of acceptance. Whether that is warped or not due to the origin of the real racist word it came from is something else entirely.

Can't really call something racist unless you fully consider context and intent of how it's used.

A white man can still upset a black man by calling him the N word. You're white but naive and probably still a teenager. The hypocrisy on blacks calling each other the N word lies in the fact that the leaders that they praise all disagree with this terminology. It's actually ridiculous when you think about it. Do Asians walk about calling each other '******' or 'gooks' or Latinos calling each others '*****' or 'wetbacks' and etc? Using the N word is stupid. And it shows how much trouble that part of America really is in.

It's easy for wise, learned, experienced middle aged and even older men to nitpick the current younger generation and tell them the 'right' way to act and behave. Some things are obvious and shouldn't have to be pointed out but a large majority of criticism the young crowds get are taken from a perspective that the accuser has no actual first Hand experience with. Things get more complicated as we become smarter, more exposed, more integrated with each other.

I hear self righteous dudes like O'Reilly and the like make assertions about segments of society they have no interaction with. Just make rigid judgments on very surface level type exposure.

The beat is nice, never really liked Nicki's raps but she got a good flow on the track. I don't get why people catch feelings over this track though, it's not like it's the first song where all the rapper says is the N word, really tired of the new mainstream rap, where they just put the n word at the end of every line, be original.

I remember when mainstream rappers used to use multis and had a sick ass flow, now it's all vanilla.

I don't think you are ignorant, you obviously possess some form of critical thinking & have enough real life experience to be aware of sociological and historical relevance.

I meant none of us with that level of expression and articulate wording could be large scale politicians. That's just how it is unless we have people close to us already in a position of guidance or large sums of capital

I have little (every has some shred just based on individual experience) bias towards hot button issues or controversy but I find it somewhat ironic that you attach a one dimensional view to me when you get noticeably tuned into and passionate of issues of racial inconsistency, particularly black culture. Why does black culture get butt cheeks clenched more than others?

I think it's a particularly interesting topic for one. I apologize if I offended you by stating that your view is one dimensional. I think I get passionate over issues like this because I see a certain hypocrisy that people just think doesn't exist. This Nicki Minaj issue with Malcom X's picture and using the N word is a perfect example of that hypocrisy. Connecting the N word with a man who fought against such epithets shows how ridiculous certain segments of American society really are. Then someone like Minaj goes on to rant (whether for more publicity or not) in the most uneducated and downright unintelligible way including the N word in almost every sentence.

didnt malcolm x preach segregation?

I want kids of today to pick up a book and read about Malcolm X's life.. Either that or watch some the many documentaries on him.

Malcolm's life was an arc that included almost everything..

He was Malcolm Little, known as "red".. He was a pimp until he joined the NOI.. He was Malik Shabazz as the right hand man to Elijah Muhammad until he was chastised and eventually exiled from the NOI(over some comments he made about the assassination of Kennedy).. He left and became a sunni muslim and learned that the racial tenants of the NOI were wrong and he changed a lot of his stances..

He gave some of the best speeches and and was a very inspiring person (especially after he left the nation of islam)

To have some ignorant attention whore like Minaj use his image for more of her trash music is a shame

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CRNciryImqg

didnt malcolm x preach segregation?

Malcolm's teachings cover a vast range of topics and changed drastically over time. Earlier in his life he was considered a black nationalist, advocated black militancy etc. which would essentially require black Americans to "segregate" themselves (don't like the choice of word you used, no disrespect, but you'll see why I am lacking a better term) in communities of their choosing. ONLY after seeking other alternatives did he condone violence, but the Nation as an organization did not care either way. They preyed on the emotions of black men in places like Harlem and Queens in order to gather support.

His issues with the Nation and its hierarchy led him to branch off and moderate many of his views (for many reasons, older and less immature, joined the Nation really young and out of prison, had a family, traveled the world etc.)

So he never preached segregation per se, more of a call to recognize black people and others of African descent through the ideals of Pan-Africanism, which advocates for the solidarity of these groups, not necessarily one that is expressed in spatial terms like segregation.

Self Determination

I don't really care for the song and I understand that the cover art is a little distasteful and taken out of context. Regardless of what you think of her music, I'd smash Minaj's sugar walls. Who's with me

^^1 of Malcolm's best speeches^^
I thought the movie 'X' was a great portrayal of the man. The sequence in Mecca and his letter back was key to understanding where Malcolm stood at the time of his death.

Exactly. Minaj is similar to Kim Kardashian and some adult actresses. They're trashy and a mans guilty pleasure.

Kind of like women that like bad boys.
