dammit spurs won that trade. Daye still has crazy length and potential if he can learn from Kawhi, Timmy and Pop

Why would Spurs do this? Daye is sooooo bad

Spurs fans, can someone give me a run-down on Nando? I remember he had a lot of Manu hype a few years back

They did it as a favor to Nando who most likely asked to be traded. Nando isn't bad, but he was the 4th best point guard on our team and doesn't really excel at any part of the game. Spurs in turn get some some big man insurance, and a possible backup 3 which was a looming hole in the roster. Plus he's only guaranteed 250k next season. Low risk move.

He's not a great defender or shooter but he's a good passer. Every now and then he'll pull off a pass that will make you think 'wow'.

I don't really know why he didn't get more court time tbh, he just never seemed to get on the floor. Spurs have been stacked at point guard with Parker, Mills and Joseph, with Manu handling the ball for the second unit he just wasn't needed I suppose.

To be fair he never saw much time outside of garbage minutes. I hope he gets a shot at Toronto.

Wouldn't go that far :lol , but it's better than the standing pat stance I was expecting from the Spurs at the trade deadline once again. Who knows, this kid could actually turn out to be better than Ayres who has been a huge disappointment this year.

Does this guy have any hope of keeping a hand in KD's face? Great trade as De Colo wasn't being used. A long SF - hope he can back up Leonard instead of seeing Manu on KD.

De Colo was definitely expendable to the Spurs (though he's a great talent), and Spurs could use as much length as they can get. Thought Daye would break out in Detroit a year or two ago but it never really happened. Trade seems pretty even imo.

we needed urgently in a tall and athletic small forward to backup kawhi, is what we have, suddenly daye can put everything together and improve the tutelage of pop

Let's not overrate the kid. He might be good for some minutes here or there at the 3/4 but he isn't going to jump in after being on the end of the Raptors' bench and start being a game changer. Let's just see if he can produce in limited minutes first.

I understand your point, but under the tutelage of pop I always expect an improvement of underrated players, and as I said, so we need it to backup kawhi (if your injuries happen to stop frequency) then it will work for this

I agree, we make players better. Just look at Roger Mason Jr., Gary Neal, ect. I really hope the kid can show some signs, but I wish he had enough weight on him so he could fight Ayres for that fourth big spot.

Seems like both teams got rid of players that have little to no use to them, at this point seems like good trade for both teams, we'll see if those two can produce anything on their new teams, and if they don't it's not a big loss anyways.

:lol @ Spurs fans being happy over this trade. Don't want to rain on your parade, but Austin Daye is a straight bum. Dude has talent but he has 0 work ethic. Prime example of a player who's put it on cruise control since making the league.

Austin Daye is completely and utterly worthless. But, if anyone can get something out of him it's Popovich.

Thank god we got rid of that whiny French fgt. Daye can shoot 3's, has length and isn't named Nando de Colo.... cool.

Whether Daye does something or not. He will get a lesson on how to play basketball that is for sure.

we all thought Boris Diaw's days were done, and look what he's doing now. I think Pops can turn Daye into a useful commodity Spurs need all the length they can get with the playoffs rolling around.

I welcome the talent and length - is it possible to be 6'11" and only 200lbs? Hopefully Pop will do something about the work ethic. At the very least, they've traded depth at a stacked position for a backup at a position where there was none. Will someone please tell me if he has a chance of staying in front of KD (agility, speed-wise)?

For trading the fourth best PG on their roster? :confusedshrug:

He's a European player, so even if he had a piss-poor primadonna attitude, a redundant skill-set as he was essentially a smaller version of Belli/Manu, only not as good at anything as either of them and is most likely going back to Europe when his contract ends, it's a bad move to trade him for a black American, who actually fills a need.
