View Full Version : is roy hibbert the most overrated 'all-star' center in nba history?

seriously tho, how overrated is this guy? he is only averaging 11.6 ppg and a whopping 7.6 rebounds per game for a center. a 7'2 all-star center averaging 7.6 rebounds per game? :facepalm

ok ok, i guess you can say he is not out there for his offense, he is averaging 2.5 blocks per game. but serge motha****ing iblocka is averaging 2.5 blocks per game too. :facepalm on top of that, ibaka is averaging 15 points per game and 8.7 rebounds per game, more than roy "7.2" hibbert. ibaka > hibbert and it's not even close. that's not the point of this thread tho.

the only reason hibbert is getting paid, is because he plays well vs. miami. and that's only because miami is undersized with no true center. now that miami got oden, hibbert is complete trash.

I don't believe he is an all star, but he is a wall on defense.

Does defense mean a thing to you?

On the other hand, it always has struck me what w weak rebounder Hibbert was, like WTF?

read the post. it's arguable he is not even the best rim protector in the league. anthony davis and serge ibaka are better.

More blocks != better defense. They have a 96.3 DRtg, (105.8 average). Relative to league average, that's -9.0%, which would be the third best in league history, only behind the 64 and 65 Celtics:

In terms of raw DRtg, that's the 16th best ever:

Dude is the dominant defensive anchor in the game today.

Note: The 04 Pistons after acquiring Sheed were -8.6%. Hibbert's Pacers are even better as of today.

Sad, but true.

For some reason, this guy plays like a legendary center versus the Heat in the playoffs.

Maybe because the Heat haven't had a real center in years. Oden is about to have him shook tho:bowdown:

you have to take into account that hibbert gets away with murder under the rim, which increases this stat up. it looks like you know a lot about the history of the nba, has anyone in nba history got away with the vertically rule as much as hibbert has?

Not saying he doesn't, but as long as that's how they're calling it, it's legal.

I think it (in its current incarnation) came into the NBA in 08-09, so it wouldn't really apply earlier.

I think Hibbert is just as important on defense as Dwight.
