He got 45 in the 2001 preseason against them. He caught fire in the third quarter and started draining 3 after 3. The commentator was going ballistic "What year is it?!!"

Ofcourse, this was a competitive game against the defending eastern conference champions. It amazing how refined his game it. Even as a 40 year old, it looks like he could toy with you at will.

In an a random individual game, ofcourse he could. Though I agree, he cannot average 23 ppg like Jordan did. Infact, I don't think he'd get anything over 15 ppg on very shody percentages.

Anyway, Jordan = GOAT. We all know that. How is this thread news?

I am not him. His gimmick is obvious though that he intentionally finds bad spelling and grammar, then intentionally fails to correct things. He is playing off of the Spell&Grammar gimmick.

Anyway, the correct spelling is "shoddy" fyi.

Actually I made this thread for the defensive rating junkies. If Jordan could do this to the best ranked defense two seasons in a row at 39 and 40 years old, no more athleticism, knees that were shot ... On pure craftiness, imagine what prime GOAT could do? Meaning semantics of a numerical rating for a great defense means jack shit. GOAT gonna GOAT regardless.

What do you value more as a measure of defensive prowess, Drating, opposition fg%, or opposition ppg? What would you consider to be the best indicator of a team's defensive ability?

Probably DRtg compared to the rest of the league, but gotta look at everything and always within context.

Ok, so at 40 in this video he's making athletic defenders like Kenyon martin, Jefferson, and Kidd look silly with simple fundamental movements, shakes and shimmys.

But but but......I thought Jordan only played against slow Craig Ehlo types in his day??

Any youngsters wishing to know how to play the game of bball should study 40yo Jordan or Bird late in his career playing with a broken back. Both could still dominate through sheer skill, awareness, and BBIQ.

Even contested shots that he took weren't bad shots for the most part.

:wtf:

What I mean by that is, he still managed to have balance, good position and a relatively clean look. On the same note, one can still shoot a bad shot when one is open.

mehyaM24
02-23-2014, 02:44 PM
That's kinda like the same percentage LeBron shot in his prime v.s. the likes of Boris Diaw and defenses that LET him shoot wide open shots, ya know?

Only difference being MJ was 39 and 40, no athleticism, no lift on jumpers, and a really bad knee. I doubt anyone playing today apart from Kobe would look that good at that age off footwork, craftiness, and fundamentals.

It was a much slower pace era in the early 2000s as well, so FG% dipped, slower pace, more half court ball, less.opportunities, lower scores ... also played into that a bit.

i know you mythologists work in lore and fables, but lebron shot 45% against the best defense in the league.

jordan shot 42% for a SEASON :confusedshrug:

As I said you're using the context for one, and not the other.

It's not like MJ was 39 and 40 years old, with no athleticism, no lift on jumpers, and a really bad knee, correct?

What was league wide average FG% in 2002 and 2003?

LeBron had 60 wins seasons with teams that wouldn't even sniff the playoffs without him. Jordan won his titles when garbage expansion teams came into play. Not to mention wing players were absolutely trash. Not impressed.

Lebron jumped ship, abandoned his team and city, ran off like a scared dog with its tail between his legs to Wade county where D-Whistle had already led the team to a ring and won finals MVP. Can you imagine how fast Bronze would've 'decided' to team up with Barkley and Drexler if he had to play the Pistons in consecutive postseasons while facing the Lebron Rules? Dude has the heart of a newborn kitten, f*ck outta here. :oldlol:
