I think Jameer might know about this. Back in the day when I was like 15-16 (Im 20 now) the idea of making *Anime Music Videos was pretty big. It got really popular and I was into the fad but I slowly had less and less time to do it. I got kind of nostalgic recently and have been looking into the AMVs out these days but it looks like the number of AMVs and interest in them has dropped a lot. The standards have dropped a lot too. Videos on youtube that I could have made when I was 5, which look shoddy, ill prepared and plain shitty are getting millions of views and the comments are full of "awesome man, good job". Like wtf? Anyway yeah just want to know if anyone knows about AMVs and if anyone was/is interested in them.

For those who have no idea, this would be classed as a AMV -

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=peHwKIybqKI

Its basically anime footage being edited to music with varying standards of success. The video above is more action based, and this is how they look when the creator decides to go more emotional with their video -

** You should watch in high quality since poor quality disguises a lot of the effects which are within the video.

I knew about them. People don't make 'em just for animes though. They'll make a stupid montage for anything, and 99% of the time they'll suck and look like the creater was just messing with filters.

e.g., "Oh, my AMV gets so emotional cuz it uses the black and white filter!"

Jameer I didnt say that therea arent quality amv makers out there today, I just mean its not as any as there used to be. If you look at the AMV.org, they have less than 25% yearly sign ups then they did around 06-09. That amv you suggested is pretty dope though.

Itare, thats pretty epic man. How prominent were you in the community? Did you know about guys like ZeroLink, Shinnie04, Zetzu4real, etc? Did you enter any tournaments, like the YXZ tournament for example?

Exactly. These are fellow basketball fans? I don't know if I want to watch NBA anymore if I'm sitting next to anime fans. Who the hell watches anime? Sickos.

Well I was really prominent around 2009. I was pretty well known for my fast paced DBZ editing. I stopped being relevant to most of the community because I would take really long breaks from 2010- now. I always end up burning myself out editing, eventually getting sick of it. I still do editing and post it on my channel but it's more for my enjoyment now. I use to care so much about the comments that it actually stressed me out if someone didn't like my video due to the fact that I use to work so hard just to make a 15 second beta. YXZ was just a few months before my time, but I remember the impact it had on the community.

I am friends with ZeroLink on XBox and still play Gears of War once in a while. I've been in a few skype calls with Shinnie and I still have Zetzu on my contacts list on skype. Zetzu passed away due to cancer a few years ago and it really affected the community.

A lot of the people that are very well known I happen to have on my contacts list because I was a very active member of the community. For example I just talked billy(in the end amv up above).

I use to get messages everyday of people asking me to be their "master". All of this was like a job to me because I was only like 13 at the time and being so good at something and being praised for it use to get to my head.

Anyways when I finish this project that I am working on Ill give ISH a secret S/O on it.

WTF  Dude I didnt know this, thats crazy... could you give me more info? Like was it sudden or did people know he had cancer? And did anyone know him irl?

All those old editors like ZeroLink that your contacts with, do they still edit? I also know exactly what you mean about the "Master" thing lol There was this guy called TheWarzoneAMV who I was asking to be my sensei :facepalm lol but it never came to fruition.

We should collab some time  My account was closed by Youtube but I am thinking about getting back into the community. I have an account on the org but I havent used it in years :(

He knew he had cancer and he spoke about it but he never said if it was terminal, he uploaded some IRL video with another european editor called NeverendAMV, they were really close. A lot of people dedicated videos to him and there was even a MEP that some of the big editors made for him. Yeah I wouldn't mind collabing with you. What was your old channel name?

Mate I remember NeverendAMV too. Back when I was a noob I challenged him to a battle and Zetzu said he would face me instead. I failed horribly :facepalm I think it was around the time NeverendAMV made that "Too Late" video. My old channel was CoMoZee but it got deleted around 3 - 4 years ago.

Dude since you are still around the community, do people edit as much as they used to? Are things still poppin or as it gone stale from your point of view?

I used to make these when I was in HS. I was pretty good at it too. It made me want to get into editing when I went to college, but then I got into writing and became an English major instead.
