Still, Samsung had a few tricks up its sleeve for its top-of-the-line Android phone. Samsung claims that the Galaxy S5 is weatherproof and resistant to water and dust. The phone's display can adapt to extreme bright and dim settings. The Galaxy S5 also has an on-board heart rate sensor and a fingerprint scanner on the home button.

I have an S3, and probably won't bother to upgrade...but being water proof seems like a great thing, and the finger print scanner seems like something that all moves that take place in the future have...I want it though though!

yep the S3 has duel processor and the S4&5 have quad...they have double the battery life

going from S3 to S5 could be a significant upgrade...but I think I am going to wait for the S6 (or whatever the next gen is called)

I wonder how much longer the s5 battery would last compared to mine

when i bought my s4 last year the excitment didnt even last the entirety of the 20 minute ride home. im sure this would be the same. even the article claims the improvements are very minor over the s4. it has really cool upgrades but think about it, not everyone has a 4k monitor to even enjoy the 4k video capability, and the 13mp camera on my s4 still gets praised by my friends.

nah samsung, you aint fooling me again. all i do on my phone is use instagram, talk shit to my friends via text, and occasionally search something on the internet. very basic tasks, all of which most smartphones today can easily do well. plus i just bought an otterbox for my s4 bc i have dropped it before and barely got the screen replaced so the aesthethics dont even matter anymore to me :lol

yeah going from S4 to S5 is probably a waste of money...

but S3 to S5 maybe not...

Pretty sure I have an upgrade coming up. Definitely leaving the iPhone and getting a Galaxy

I'm so glad I sold my S3. The price would have plummeted even further.

Yawn.

S3 and S4 are amazing phones. S5 should carry that trend on, but it's more of an S4 update, than a whole new phone.

I heard new iPhone 6 gonna have sapphire glass. Super durable and clear. M

I'm rollin with iPhones now. Had mine almost 3 months. Just fonkier and easier than android. I get on my old htc one, and just seems retarded and not as pleasing to the eye.

Never had a samsung tho.

Still the same ugly phone as their last one. What did they copy from Apple this time around besides the obvious fingerprint scanner?

Being water proof and water resistant are two different things.

I've had the S3 for a while and wasn't excited enough about the new iPhones to change, plus I though the S4 was too similar to warrant a change.

One thing I strongly dislike about the S3 (a phone I am generally happy with) is the contoured edges, it constantly slips out of my hand and it is hard to use one-handed, if the S5 has a squared edge like the S4 does, I will likely buy it (unless of course the ghost of Steve Jobs comes up with something really dope).

The S4 is an overrated piece of shit that has a number of problems.

Not gonna go down the Galaxy route again. The next potential iPhone looks badass, I'll look into that.

Samsung was supposed to be working on a second premium phone line.
Something with a design and build style more in line with the HTC alluminum bodied stuff. But they insist it won't undercut their Galaxy Flagship, which seems impossible. But it makes me curious. They couldn't possibly put different features in each if they're serious about pricing them the same and marketing them as both top line products.

The whole thing is weird to me.

I have the S4 currently. Runs smooth, great screen, great camera, everything I need in a phone. I'm on the no contract thing with T-Mobile and my upgrade is coming up tho, so I might look into the S5. If Apple can make a 4.5 or 4.7 inch iPhone then I will gladly switch to Apple. But right now, the new camera and fingerprint scanner don't seem like anything that requires a change.

Ehhh, I don't like the reports that the S5 will be even bulkier than the S4. I want something that fits in my pocket and is convenient to carry around. I'm not going to be watching movies or shows on my damn phone. I'll get a tablet if that's ever something I want to do.

My contract is ending this summer and I'm still with my S2 which I've loved. I'll probably switch up to either an HTC One or S4. Not waiting for these marginal and, for me, inconvenient upgrades.

The new iphone will most likely have a bigger screen and possibly an option up to 5.5 inches. If you are willing to wait until May and/or possibly fall of 2014 (Sept) then I would do so.

Well I can upgrade from my 3 year old HTC Sensation but idk if I wanna get the S5 or wait for something else. Looks ok

Just an FYI the S5 isn't waterpoof, it's water-resistant and dust-proof.

In any case they should've called it the S4s. It's a slighty bump in hard-ware and they made TouchWiz less noticably, but it's still got horrible menu navigation where it's cluttered.

Same. My GS3 still doing everything I need in a very efficient fashion. Took me months to customize and polish it exactly to how I want it to run.

Will probably stick with this phone until it breaks or something amazing comes out. This isn't that amazing something.

Samsung S5 will sell a lot like usual but i dont even consider among the best phones on the market. They just have a great marketing team.

Nexus 5, Moto X, LG G2, HTC One. ALL better

No shame in that. The S3 still holds its own as a solid device.

Keep in mind galaxy users when your device is getting slow, root it and install cyanogenmod or any other custom rom. I have a jelly bean rom on my s4 instead of stock touch wiz and I'm amazed how fast and smooth it is. S2-3 with cyanogenmod would amaze you how fast your phone can truly be. Take my word for it.

Yeah it is, it's still sexy AF. I got the 4.4.2 update, and got the bootloader unlocked and am rooted.

Now how to get S-Off and a recovery so I can install an awesome Custom Rom on this bad boy. Anyone got an xda link to directions? HTC's are a pain in the ass compared to the Samsung's to do this because you need to gain S-Off. Doing it on my sister's S3 was a walk in the park and SlimKat is NYCE on it.

It's such a pain to root though. I remember it was ridiculously easy on the original Droids, but it's gotten very difficult now and you HAVE to be very tech savvy.

Brotha, I'm new to this stuff. i just figured out how to make it a universal remote.
